Yeah, I know that and that's why I saw he have to try and belt him out of it. Steyn swings the ball back into the left handers from what I've seen and Gayle has been dismissed in the first over by Lee like that on occassions - fast inswingers. I think Steyn will get him anyhow so it's worth the gamble.

Anyhow, back on SA domestic competition.

 Dale Steyn continues to impress , this time in domesticcompetition. In a Titans win he took 14 wickets - that's 34 wickets in3 successive matches !

Well the Compost XI got well and truly buried by the Zimbabwean under12's by 10 wickets !   A good performance by the children ,but it might be an idea if the next match pitches them against elevencricketers.

  So Zimbabwe play their 1st match again the Compost side today atPotch. I've seen the starting XI for the garden supplements and StephenCook is the best of an extrememly average bunch. He's nowhere close tothe class of his Dad , Jimmy , but not bad all the same.

Not scrapped, but compromised - Zimbabwe are now to play as a seventh franchise in both the MTN Domestic Championship and the Pro20 Series later in the season.

They will play three four-day games against a wait for it, South African Composite XI made up of franchise and provincial players.

With Pakistan due in Zimbabwe in December, that should rule out any question of Zimbabwe fielding under-strength sides seeing as the limited overs tournaments start in February.

Yes, he did play a part in his development spin-wizard, but his smooth  Donald-like action came naturally ie before Donald met with him.

I wish you could have seen Mfuneko Ngam back in 2000 spin-wizard. His action was almost a mould of Allan Donald's and he bowled over 150Kph and swung it both ways. Then he had 7 stress fractures and that was the end.

Yep. And good to see the SA bowling coach doing something about his run-up. Bringing him closer to the stumps really has made a huge difference.  Not always venom. Dale Steyn is on record saying thatWarwickshire used him sparingly throughout his short stay this season.4 and 5 over bursts and then a nice rest in the deep was a successfulploy too - he took plenty of wickets.
        It looks like it's broughthim on too , he's bowling with aggression and control at the moment.

Seems he's doing well. Got a couple this morning and the captain's not over-working him, which they often seem to do to the overseas pro's in the county circuit.

Also I see Rudolph's been getting a full run with his leg spin of late and he's getting some results too. Would be nice to have a leg spinning allrounder in the side Approve

Harmy had a nice day yesterday - sat with his feet up !  NeilMcKenzie hit 150-odd and has shot off to Centurion and will play if DeVIlliers doesn't recover from a back complaint.  If SA areunchanged then McKenzie has a long drive back to Potch ! 
      It's hot , very hot , in Potch and thatwicket is perfect for batting. Harmy will get a go today and will dowell to take a couple.  From an England perspective it's theperfect test for the lad , the humidity will be lower than in Sri Lanka, but it'll still be very hard graft.

The workload is definitely plenty these days. What people need to know is when cricketers aren't playing matches, they're practicing too so they hardly have anydays break. Pleasant surprise on Inside Edge last night , Harmy was thestudio guest alongside New Zealand's ex-quick , Danny Morrision. An interesting programme for a change , with the men discussingworkloads of current cricketers (especially bowlers) with Morrison'sera.
     Surprisingly , it's 10 years since Morrison lastturned his arm over and he was the first to admit that , whilst they'rewell rewarded , the schedule is brutal today.  Injuries and therecovery from them was chewed over too , with Harmy saying the pressureon players to get back in the middle is neverending.  He debutedfor England in 2002 and played without injury until after 2005 Ashes -he missed a single test in that period , but with nothing seriouslywrong.  Since then he's never been completely fit and hasstruggled. What appealed to me was his self-deprecation , he chuckled at that ball in Brisbane and was quite philisophical about the number of wides and the resulting media hysteria.
       He's very keen to get to Sri Lankaand feels he's not far away now. The match in Potch later this week isvital if he's to go. He had nice things to say about Gibson , butlittle when questioned about Donald. He only played in 2 tests with ADat the helm , after that he was crocked.
        Finally he was questionedabout Freddie and true to form , he backed his mate. Disappointment wasthe buzz word in his response , with the old adage that what happens inthe dressingroom should stay there.  He ended by echoing quite afew Freddie supporters by saying just where were the positive commentsabout Fred , it all seemed so negative. 
        The lad looked happy anddownplayed all the homesick jibes that come his way. He's a family man, misses them , but loves playing cricket and is mad keen to get to SriLanka and then New Zealand.

  Footnote :  I've just read the Telegraph and CharlesRandell reports that Harmy's got a stomach bug. All I can say is thathe obviously was lacking a story as the lad looked perfectly alrightlast night !

Harmy was erratic in the 1st innings but still took 6 wickets in the process.2nd time around he bowled a lot more consistently and only took three -funny game , cricket.
         The improvementsuggests that the cobwebs were getting shaken off in the 2nd inningsand that can only be good for England and Harmison.
          The pitch atPaarl (stunning ground in the wine region) is very slow and low , sohis return is very encouraging. Later this week he's playing for theLions against the Dolphins at Potch. That wicket is quicker , but isstill very much a batting track. It'll be hard work for Harmy and a lothotter than it was in Paarl.
          Against a decentNatal side (they're not much weakened by international withdrawals ,just Pollock missing) he should get plenty of work - it'll beinteresting to see just how many he knocks over.

Extras are never a good thing but I will take a lot of wickets over extras. A bowler who doesn't concede a extra but also doesn't take wickets isn't very helpful most of the times.
