Mark waugh and laxman seem to come up most in discussion of style, class and timing. Why were the waugh twins so different? steve so ugly and mark so pretty. I agree with milky mark waugh so stylish its not funny, martynn to a lesser extent, actually although martyn did look stylish on occassion, make that most occassions i think he looked sometimes ugly compared to mark waugh. laxman certainly has the timing but he is in no way a mark waugh. when in form laxman was good and his timing impeccable but was also capable of ugliness which mark was not. In fact I have never seen afghan play an ugly stroke, even if he tried, but didn't he find some dumb ways to get out. My all time favourite player, perhaps should have choosen juinorrulz

I mean i loathe watching someone like klusener but if i were barracking for sth africa in those 99 world cup matches against australia id love it. Although for the viewers like ourselves it's great to watch the likes of Mark Waugh, Martyn, Gower, Laxman, Hooper (as I wrote a serial underachiever but Warne rated him as the batsman who probably had the best footwork against spin) even if all those players weren't the best in the side in terms of runs scored.

Do you guys prefer seeing batsmen who slaughter attacks like a Cairns or Klusener or someone who plays shots with expert timing and delicacy like M. Followed his entire career. He was good. Fulls top. It is not that he was not wanted, he just did not have the place in that middle order with Inzi, Ijaz and Salim Malik around and Yousuf knocking the doors. And its not that he did not get enough chances - he did and he failed to make full use of it. He scored a couple of centuries - his maiden ton was very good. He also had some success in Australia C7U series in 96-97, but that's about it. He had the style and probably had one of the best on drives in the game - but certainly did not have the class or substance.

Yes I agree tendulkar can at times be a little ugly. Very good to watch, compact, technically good and sound all round style but lacks the fluency of some others. I dont think sehwag is particularly stylish though.

I still cant go past mark waugh, laxman and to a lesser extent damien martyn. I like the way ABD plays but id hardely call him stylish.

I actually think ian bell has some style about him. may get me attacked and im certainly no fan of his and dont enjoy watching him bat but i think he has quite a stylish technique. The left handers from england bore me to tears though, cook, strauss and before them trescothick, boring!

Mohammed yousaf is quite stylish too, but does anyone remember mohammid wasim from about ten years back?He was very very stylish but barely played a match for some odd reason. He had class and substance to go with his style but apparantly wasnt wanted.

Edited by punterrulz - 10 December 2009 at 10:09am

Sometimes his innings are a little hard on the eyes (not that it makes it any less brilliant).

Personally, I`ve always found perfect technique to be stylish while players like Sehwag and Afridi can bore me at times. De Villiers doesn`t have perfect technique but it`s still very good especially for players on this generation and I guess that appeals to me.

I think I`ve said this before but don`t remember but some guy called George Bailey is not too bad either. He played 1 or 2 games in IPL2 as opener of Super Kings.

Edited by DRAVID FAN - 09 December 2009 at 11:54pm

If it is for the former I am afraid you are badly mistaken.

Probabaly Saeed, Sanga and Dravid and to some extent Ponting fit in the list but it cant be Sehwag, Miandad, Afridi or Gilly for sure.
