Hi I was just wandering what do you guys think is an acceptable conversation rate of 50's to 100's and which batsmen is the best t converting. For me if a batsmen gets a century 1 once out of thre scores over 50 that is acceptable. The best converting batsmen are Ponting and Strauss |

Ponting is like 1:1 conversion rate, Hayden at one stage had more tons then 50's too.

Virender Sehwag has something like 12 tons and 11 fifties he definatley the best conversion rate

Yep, good points - Ponting has 31 centuries to 34 half centuries, Vaughan has 15 to 14, which is better than 1:1, Strauss has 8 to 5, which is an incredible start to his career. Some others, for comparison: Hussey 4-4, Dravid 22-42, Kallis 24-39, Tendulkar 35-41 |

I was reading about Fleming this morning - gone past 50 fifty times but
only converted them into centuries nine times, a pretty poor return

Conversion rates dont tell the full picture. Look at Vaughan he is so hit and miss these days, same as Sehwag.

True Shoaib, sehwag has a good conversion rate from 50's to 100's, but neither of them come consistently enough... Matt Hayden seems to have slipped everyone's mind. He has 26 100's to 25 50's. And they do come regulalary |

Talk about great conversion rates from 100's to 200's,Matthew Sinclair has scored 3 centuries thus far in his test career,two of his 3 centuries where double on debut made 200 odd against the West Indies then the following summer made an unbeaten 204 against Pakistan so hes conversion rate fom 100's to 200's is 66.66%.Hes 2 test tons came within 12 tests.

In 47 tests Sehwag has played his scored 12 test fifties and 12 test hundreds 8 of his 12 hundreds have been scores of 150+ which is a great conversion rate and has 1 triple century and 2 double centuries also 195 agaisn't australia in melbourne.

Amazing...Kamran Akmal in tests has four 100's and two 50's while in ODI's three 100's and no 50's so thats 7 hundreds and 3 fifties in international cricket so hs conversion rate would be probably 66.66% or 7:3.

That is amazing, I think an acceptable conversion rate would be 2 fifties to a century in test cricket In ODI's it should be about 3-4 fifties to a century in ODI cricket since the time period is shorter

In ODI cricket if you open or bat at three then a 1:3 or 4 100 and 50 ratio is acceptable. If one bats lower then less.
In tests , for a specialist batsmen then a 1:2 rate.

Well DF, I have what I stated earlier is in reference to specialist batsmen. If one is also a bowler, then they are not 'expected' to get as many runs, nor should they have to. i.e. Saqlain, Gillespie have 1 score over 100, but they are not specialist batsmen, not even all rounders. The same goes for keepers.
