There's an alarming number of threads being created for different makes of bat and it's making this field very unwieldy.

From now on I'll delete any new bat thread and I ask you to use existing ones or this one for all queries. I'll "sticky" it too , so that it remains at the head of the list.

   Thanks , Sledger

£400? Blimey.....

You can have pretty much anything you want for that and your best bet would be to have one custom made - discuss your requirements with a good bat makers and they will sort you right out. Try contacting Fusion, Bradbury, Laver & Wood, Millichamp & Hall and Kippax to name but a few and see what they have to tell you.

Couldn't you find an English willow bat for the same sort of price?

Kashmir willow bats tend not to be as good and you could get one for far less than what you are proposing to pay, which only costs so much because of the Reebok stickers in my opinion.

kashmir willow sends the ball miles to me and really doesn't require as muck knocking in as an english willow.

Kashmir willow is harder than English willow and so doesn't "ping" anything like as well

Hi All,

It happens to us all, a dearly beloved piece of willow unfotunately passed away on me this weekend, it served me so well and had fittingly just passed fifty when the fateful split happened!

However every cloud has a silver lining and now the hunt for a new piece of willow can begin! I am looking for any feedback on any of the following bats;

1. Gray Nicolls XXX - only seen them available from one place in Aus.

2. Bradbury Sterling

3. Screaming Cat

4. Fusion - England

5. GN Fusion

6. GN Predator

I am a bit of a bowed blade fan - my out going bat was a Vampire and was around 2'10!! Any help/feedback would be greatly appreciated!!

Add this to your list if you want a decent bat. County Test Collection LE. I bought one a few days ago, 2lb 10oz, picks up really well, titanium inserts in handle for more strength, ball is screaming off the middle, slight bow, made by grey nicols, inch thick edges through the middle,  awsome awsome bat.

Meant to add, was only $390 Aussie, it's the gladius shape from 3 years ago, the actual shape hayden uses.

Then crick, it shows your limited knowledge on bats. To many knotts all over will make the bat too heavy, buy find one in the middle of the blade and it really pings off the the harder willow. Yet another person that goes for looks over performance.

Yes, but im sure crick is trying to say that being the top end range, you should get the best performance with the best looks, thats what usually fits companies l.e qualities, i know what you are saying about the knot making th ebat harder making it ping, but these knots, butterflys are usually beter off around the middle so effectively you have a larger pinging area, yet still a soft sweet middle. You may see some pros bats with butterflys knots etc, but i doubt yu would find many ded bang in the middle of the bat.

Butterfly stain (the stain resembles the shape of a butterfly), for example, used to be very popular for its superior strength and playing ability. Unfortunately, these days because it does not "look clean and white" people do not buy it. It does make very good bats that are very strong and perform well.  Taken from the Js. Wright site. Buy your bats on performance, not looks, I would never buy a bat from a somewhere that wouldn't let me check the rebound with a wooden mallet ( custom made is a little different if you can find a bat maker you can trust ) because there are to many bats out there that are way overpriced because of their label.

Newbery Mjolnir C6+

Does anybody have any information on this bat please?  At the moment it's a toss-up between this bat and the Fusion custom made bats that I have heard so much positive feedback about?  Could anybody expand on the pros and cons of both products please?

Anybody here know how the Kookaburra is? Also, could someone tell me what the lightest bat available is?

I'm really bad when it comes down to choosing a bat. I don't know which is a really good bat for beginners or how to improve it once I buy one. I wonder if I'll ever be able to find out anything about bats. Let's hope this thread helps me.

wow sorry i didn't know we were part of the weekly W.I.

if a knot means the ball pings off the harder willow, then why dont they simply press the bats harder! becuase we know that softer willow that has been well knocked in is much better in performance!

im sure we can get Bill Cornfords View on knots in the middle of the blade if possible?

boo ha ha!

I accept your apoligy crick. And quite simply if you were to press the whole blade to hard it would become very heavy.

The sword was deleted from their range a few years ago.
