Javagal Srinath, the fomer India pace bowler in a recent interview with Harsha Bhogle said that he would blindly select nehra in India's 3 pace attack any time given that Nehra is fit. He said that his pace trio currently would consist of Khan, Sharma and Sreesanth but if Nehra declars himself fit then he would definitely come into the frame. Nehra has been my personal favourite too but injuries have plagued his career yet he looked good in the IPL. He was right up there in terms of pace and also swung the ball. Your views please on thie India discard and whether he still has international cricket left in him..

Well, I haven't seen Nehra for some years now so I can't say whether he should be in the side cause I'm not sure how he's doing with the ball.
He did have pace and could have swing the ball too and wasn't bad at all. Edited by spin wizard - 08 September 2008 at 12:09am |

He is going to play in the Irani Trophy match for Delhi against Rest of India. ROI will consist of all test players except those who will represent Delhi. Expect it to be a good game and it will be interesting to see how Nehra does partnering Ishant Sharma with the new ball. Sehwag will lead Delhi.

He was average. But I still think Zaheer, Ishant, RP all are better than Nehra. I did not see him swinging the ball back in to the right handers. He had the pace but could only get the ball go with the angle. I do think that BAlaji was a real good bowler and should be brought back

He could bring it bak Zuhair and he brought it back more than Zaheer and although he was always a bit expensive he used to pick up wickets.

A misunderstanding there Dips - Zuhair was commenting that Balaji should be brought back , not his ability to bring the ball back !

Another misunderstanding Sledge- I think Dips got what I said and he replied by saying that Nehra could bring the ball in. He was not bothered about Balaji at all in his comment. (MAybe ;)

Yea I was talking about Nehra's in swinger to the right handers Sledge. No worries. Agreed Zuhair Balaji is a good bowler and he was decent in the IPL too. India have a good pool of fast bowlers now and most of them have International experience so injuries should not worry us. Among young talents there is Gony and Ashok Dinda too but nehra should be back if someone breaks down.

That's if Nehra doesn't break down too given his record.

Absolutely spinny that's what Srinath said. He said if Nehra says he is going to play 1 year without injuries then he would blindly pick Nehra and bannk on him to spearhead the attack.
