Australia Out-thought and Out-played. MJ Clarke, you are a decent bloke and a pretty good captain
Ravi Bopara has lads played really well. The pitch was a little bit 'stoppy' but I think it got better as the night went on. It was important that I got an early knock and that one at The Oval gave me confidence and stood me in good stead for the series.

England are No1 in Tests , they would have been No1 in One Dayer's but one match was rained off so they remain 3rd. They are No1 in T20 also. Thats what I have just seen looking at the rankings. Australia are now looking a shambles since Ponting retired from International Cricket I am afraid to say. I don't think Clark has the makings of a great Australian Captain in the mould of Ponting, Waugh,Chappell,Boarder and more. Good player but not Captain material.

They keep breaking down Sam - the rigours on modern day cricket is taking it's toll.

But Sledge we are talking about Shane Watson who is the most exciting all rounder at the moment and the Aussie Vice Captain. Surely he won't give up so easily.

I can understand about Lee though, he is 35 and fast bowlers like him generally retire at this age.

There have been several retirements that have happened lately:

Tatenda Taibu, the talented Zimbabwean, has quit cricket for Church!

Yep , Watson's exciting Sam , but he's also injury prone - he won't be playing when he's 35 !

So Brett Lee calls it a day after yet another injury. He says he's been battling to get up for the matches , not so unusual after 13 years in the game. He's done the right thing as he was always someone who gave everything and the thought of a half-baked Lee trundling in makes me uneasy.   Then again , he'll be able to do that in the IPL for a few years yet !

what a bowler Brett Lee has been over the years, A very charismatic cricketer, the battles between him and Shoaib Akhtar on the speed gun for being the fastest bowler in the world, I still remember. The 2003 WC when Brett Lee cleaned up the best in the world and his unique way of celebrating is something I'd never forget.

A very very good bowler, absolutely brilliant cricketer, we all will miss the pace and charisma of Brett Lee. Farewell Brett and congratulations on a brilliant career! Clap

Not really Sledge, they have already proved they are a top notch in this format too.

Don't believe me? ... Just look at last 4 years England's ODI series statistics, it's only IND and AUS who have beaten them in ODI series, but at the same time even England have beaten Ind and AUS in last four years in ODI series. That even out Smile.

No other team could beat them , means they have done fairly good, isn't it? unless you are taking  a 10+ years of evaluation.

Just call me a sceptic Raj !  You're right though , they've done well in recent times but fell down badly in World Cups - that sticks in the memory !
