Topic: Australia Tour to Pakistan Posted: 11 March 2008 at 11:50am |
It is expected within 10-12 days time. The actual problem only lies with the current government setup. The moment Musharraf goes, we will b back to normalcy. And anyhow, even today, the targets are specific more often than not.
I am not in favor of playing at a neutral venue. Though I do want to see test match cricket invloving Pak and Australia very badly, but neutral venue just does not strike me.
SAF and Zim toured Pak when the situation was far more worse than it is today. Now the situation gets better or not, Australia are not coming till alteast 2009-2010!!! Means less test match cricket for us and ofcorse more disappointment. I honestly thought that this series would have been a closely fought on had it happened.

bangladesh is all set to tour PAK next month for a series of 5 ODI's, some respite for the PCB, but not for the fans i guess.

Another bomb blast in Pakistan I read on BBC eh? If I was Australia, I know I surely won't be going anytime now. I think the tour is postponed to 2009 anyhow.

Yeah Bondy. Before looking at the stat, even I thought Australia would be at no.1 or 2. However they are way ahead from others in terms of winning percentage.

Lawson has asked Shohaib Akhtar to quit test cricket and focus only on ODIs.

Those are not winning percentage Zuhair. Percentage of test matches played.

I would like that to happen. But having seen the way ICC function, I doubt whether they would be thinking about these things.
Also just like they have a restriction on T20s per year, I would like to have a restriction on no of ODIs.

Yup, i'm with you zuhair, except for bangladesh and zimbabwe.
good sugesstion by kiran too, a restriction on ODI's will be good, excluding the WC and other ICC events, which should not be taken into account.

Yes BD and ZIM could be given half the number of test matches others get. 10 tests. 25 ODIs and 5T20s would be good enough

yesterday was the disapponting day for the cricket lovers. I don't understand what is the meaning of postponed here because the future cricketing calender will not allow the PCB and CA to reschedule this series. So I think it is better to say that AUS cancelled the PAKISTAN tour.

I see this same team has now managed to give up 503 for 2 in 97 overs including 265* so far for Yasir Hameed

I wasn't surprised to see England topping that list and NZ rooted to
the bottom. Like others though , Australia's position was an eye
opener. I wonder what England's position would be like if they
commanded the same attendances at tests that are found in the
subcontinent - much different is my guess.
So 5 one dayers
against mighty Bangladesh is next for Pakistan - not really going to
appease real cricket lovers in that part of the world is it.

Rather a strange name either way! But hi! I think what Zuhair was trying to say is that there doesn't seem to be any availability in either Australia's or Pakistan's calendar's to be able to reschedule this tour, so that probably wont happen, hence it is effectively cancelled.

Nobody would be willing to watch BD series and that too 5 matches!!! Even the players themselves wont be that excited either. We were better off without this hectic series which now we have to win 5-0, otherwise its going to be even worse, even if it ends 4-1...news today indicate that PCB is eying for a tri nation series instead of BD-Pak!! Wonder who will that team be. Might be SRL
