I said from the start his form was poor, he was picked on reputation.
As for tommorrow, if the current pair and silva can bat a fair chunk of the day anything could happen, it's a great deck still, not a lot of wear or uneven bounce and sanga looks in supreme touch.

How annoying would that be, particuarly if we won all our games against India, a record would be lost for Punter. |

He bowled okay in the first test, but the Lankan's didn't let him settle in this match, thus exposing his inconsistency. Does this mean that Hogg will be very much in the selectors thoughts for the next test? Or is he just never going to quite make it to the next level?

I dont think there will be a draw in this match if the weather remains dry. This test is still very much in favour of Australia. I would say 70 % to 30 % for Australia. Sri Lanka has a real chance to win it, but therefore this wicket should stand for another 150 runs or so. That is difficult but not impossible.

Ponting behavior is like a little girl own you know! Funny enough, when he was batting, he know the declaration was going to come and he and Hussey looks like they were batting for their average. They should have tried to burst the ball and if they got out, Symonds, Clarke and Gilly were behind to murder it more. Talk about selfish and if I remember right, he was the same one who said Lara's 400 was selfish. I just wish that Sri Lanka could make that 260 runs tomorrow. It's not impossible, the pitch is good still and MacGill is not in touch.
Now I'm back to my senses, Lee has bowled really well for the series and he proved some of the Aussies on here that he has it, well, for now atleast. MacGill bowled terrible at this venue and I'm sure I would have done a better job - I can't believe how an international bowler can land down so many full tosses bar Fernando ofcourse.

Bit of a difference when your player is in hospital having scans, as opposed to rotating bowlers so they can have a nice shower and cup of tea.

I do expect Aussie to win this match even if it rains or not. One thing I can't understand is why on earth were Ponting and Hussey batting so stupid, they were 2 wickets down and the declaration was coming soon and still those guys were batting like they were trying to save a test match instead of playing a 20/20 innings knowing Gilchrist and Symonds are still to bat.
I do think Ponting was batting selfish and playing for personal record, simply as that.
Great Batting from Kumar and Marvin. They scored at a great rate just before lunch and thats what I admire, because it doesn't make sense wasting time scoring so slow and still lose the match. Attack is the key against Aussie.
Macgill, I got to have a talk with him because his bowling was absolute rubbish and If he continues, I can't see him playing against India which is a bad thing, If he does, I do hope he continues bowling rubbish. Edited by BackFoot Master - 19 November 2007 at 9:34pm |

I know it's gonna be hard for Sri lanka to win this one but if Aussie doesn't get 7 wickets today, Sri Lanka will win the match.

Sri Lanka 391/9 at lunch. Sangakkara out or unlucky out for a brillant superb 192 with many thanks to an absolute CLANGER from the umpire. If you are not sure, give the damn benefit to the batsman. It just spoiled my night even more with that rubbish decision and why is it that Aussie players always end up on the right side with bad decisions. Great support from Malinga with kumar, then Malinga decided to take matters into his own hands by hitting two hugh sixes off the last three balls before lunch.
Just hope I can see a couple more boundaries before they are all out.

Sangakkara was exceptionally unlucky- the ball hit his shoulder, then helmet and didn't his is bat. Whether it was a good catch or not is irrelevant, it wasn't 'out'- and you're right BFM, Australia seem to end up on the right-side of a majority of the hazy decisions. However, it is said that you make your own luck..
Well Done to Kumar! For me that was the best knock of the series and it would've be great to see him bring up the double! Sri Lanka had an opportunity to win this match, but thanks to little support from Silva and Jayawardene (both in the second innings) it was never going to have a fairy-tail ending.
Other than Lee, Johnsons' done an excellent job at breaking partnerships and their attacking combination with Clark's metronome accuracy forms a lethal combination. The obvious disappointment has been MacGill, but Murali hasn't been at his best either.
Well Done Australia, 14 tests in a row now and Steve Waugh's record of (17?) consecutive test victories looks like it could be broken if their form continues abroad. Edited by bondy - 20 November 2007 at 2:05am |

Man, I still vex a lot with the umpire because he has terminated a fantastic knock by Sangakkara.
Anyway, Marvan Atapattu has called it a day forever.
India may have something different to say about that. Edited by BackFoot Master - 20 November 2007 at 2:10am |

Sri Lanka all out for 410 and give aussie a 2-0 series win.
4 wickets for Lee, murali also joining the party with a six over third man, well played unbeaten 42 from malinga, that third six over midwicket was a absolute monster that went miles.

Umpires these days seem to be giving more and more bad decisions which are changing the outcome of the match. Anyways, SL didn't play very well. If malinga and Murali could score runs, then their main batsman should have definitely scored runs.

No , he was in hospital and his injury was a sight more serious than Symonds'. So history isn't made , but the visitors made a fist of it. Stylish stuff from Sangakarra , I love watching him bat. Brett Lee did the business and 8 wickets on a flattie is testament to his efforts - there's a message for all quicks there. Phil Jaques has filled Langer's boots very well - there might be a few hiccups along the way , but he has all the attributes for a successful test career. I expect the Lankans to be very competitive at home next month and also expect MacGill to have a very relaxing festive season. Edited by Sledger - 20 November 2007 at 4:43am |

Maybe he was sledge, but you still can't deny it was a common theme through the series, giving bowlers a rest, plus this guy was a tasmanian player, not a specialist fielder travelling with the team to each game.

Yeah, Simon Jones injury were more serious than Symonds. Simon Jones had to run on his foot for six balls on a straight while Symonds were running like 3 out of six balls. It was harder in Jones case.
England may not like that last line of your post Sledger.
Yean another run out for the sub and I ain't hearing anything from Ricky Ponting. Also where on earth is Micheal Vaughan, it's a prefect time for him to hit the press box and comment amd agrue on the sub run outs like Ponting did or they are waiting on me to comment.
