I don't know if you agree with me or not, but do you think there should be any kind of awards given to members maybe on a monthly basis, where one or two members are rewarded for their contributions to the forum, so maybe one as 'Member of the Month' and the other as 'New Member of the Month'. In this I don't mean they get a prize of anything for it, you could just maybe give it out to members you feel have contributed well to the forum and deserve something for it.

What do you think of that idea?

Why are people so obsessed with awards and popularity contests here?

People who contribute well to the forum are already rewarded by having all the other users take their opinions seriously, whilst the crappy users just get the scorn they deserve.

I don't really think it should happen but isn't it time for our half year award. One was done in Jan last year and in the summer as well. I think it's how it is done here.

One more thing, the awards get a bit repetitive because Clobber and Sledger win every year, not that they dont deserve it but shouldnt we say that you have to vote for someone else because they will win if we dont. Not being bitter or anything, just trying to make a point. LOL

I think we should have an award on the hour , EVERY hour!  The prize should vary from , say , 100 pounds , right up to the latest Ferrari !!  Clobs , JP or yours truly will be the judges and their decision is final.

Right , time for the 1st winner .......the best post of the last hour was posted by , errrr , me......JP I'll forego the 100 quid and will settle for a month's free beer!

True, but post things that contribute and don't spam and everyone will know you're a great member.
County Sim on extended break until I've got less work and more free time. When I have a specific date, I'll post it in the thread.

Says who? I like wit and posts that make sense at the sametime. The wit spices it up more.

To be honest the whole awards thing is just a bit of light hearted fun, if your a good member then you know your a good member and that you contribute to the forum and make it a better and more enjoyable place for others which is an award in itself.

I suppose you could do that, maybe you could do it after the World Cup as they do awards for the players after the World Cup like best team and best player so why not do it to co-incide with that?

I think dips etc should work on special edition of awards , pertaining to the threads related to the world cup only and may be we will satisfy a few award starved posters here. Awards like the best cricket brain on CW, the best pridictor, the most booring etc etc and probably it could have a regional version also, where a mini comeptition may be seen amongst members from same region!
Another very popular award would be the youngest to 1000, or 5000, inafct the controversial would be the quickest to the milestone, as he would recieve an award with an instant ban for mail boosting!Big%20smile
so far so good!
