Good if it happens, the monsoon season has just begun in South Asia! If they play a decent match, without weather gods having the say,  that will be an achievement

Lunch on Day 1 of the 1st Test and Bangladesh are getting marmalized by the home side !!  64-7 and Murali has 2-2 off three overs!

The gap between the minnows and the big boys appears as great as ever...

All out for a paltry 89 in just 32.3 overs!! Murali took 5-15 and Fernando chipped in with three wickets too.
Sri Lanka have started indifferently too , currently 10-1 after 2.4 overs.

This one won't take long !

The hosts in total command at stumps on day 1 , on 227-3. Captain , Jayawardene retired hurt (calf strain) when on 93 and opener Vandort is still there on 87.

It's a long haul for Bangladesh now and they'll do well to take this match into the 4th day.

This match is proof of  'Where's the point?' Muralitharan can just about get to 700 wickets in 10 overs time, what a complete farce.

If all goes well it should be done by the second or third session of the third day. Well played Murali, Fernando, Vandort and Mahela.

His tally will be definietly over 750 if he played the same number of matches as Warne against England, South Africa, West Indies and New Zealand. Another aussie tactic to tarnish Murali's feats.

Prasanna Jayawardene has made his maiden ton, can Vaas do the same?

92 not out at the moment, with 6 overs left today.

568-6 Sri Lanka.

His feats will be always tarnished, with or without my posts, are you suggesting those countries mentioned are weaker than bangladesh and zimbabwe?

Vass does make three figures and then SL declared. 577-6d is a huge total and Bangladesh are unlikely to be working on Thursday.
Glad to see Vaas make a ton , he's a decent player , but the attack wasn't test match standard.

No, but Murali has performed better than Warne against all of these countries, and Majority of his matches are against them, unlike Murali, who's majority is against india and pakistan whoplay spin well than the above listed ones. And if they ahve played same number of matches aginst same opposition, Murali will be leading the way.

Prasanna Jayawardane ha sscored his maiden century and so has Vaas. There is no question about Vaas' batting ability, but is this lulling selectors in to a false sense of security when facing England and Austrailia later in the year?

I hope this will not turn in to a Warne vs Murali thread, and this will be the last I am posting on this matter in this thread. The table shows what happend if Warne and Murali played against same number of matches against each opposition. SL, AUS and ICC WXI stats were omitted.

This will settle the argument "Murali played more against minnows" codswallop.

That dosen't settle anything, facts of the matter are, murali played 20 matches combined between zimb & bd for 137 wickets,
warne, 3 matches for for 17 wickets.

See the projected table without groping in the darkness. That assumes

1) Murali and Warne have played equal amount of matches barring matches against SL, AUS and ICC W XI

2) They have played similar number of matches against each opposition

So the projected table will have 17 for Warne and 23 for Murali against minnows, assuming if they have played same number of matches. The real catch comes when dealing with ENG, SAF, NZ and WI. See ENG and WI for instance, 195 vs 258 and 65 vs 133.

Even it is calculated for 110 matches, the number of wickts will be 678, (897*110/145), which is more than what he have now (674).

With all due respect, why dont you two take this discussion/debate to the Warne vs. Murali thread?
