The Bears have agreed personal terms with one of the “form” players of international cricket. Subject to completing a satisfactory medical Kumar Sangakkara plans to join the Club immediately after the Cricket World Cup and spend most of the summer at Edgbaston. Sangakkara will replace Aussie, Martin Love, who had planned to join Warwickshire before suffering a serious knee injury last weekend.

Commenting on the news Director of Coaching Mark Greatbatch said “We are delighted to have secured one of the top players in the world so quickly after Martin Love’s injury. Kumar Sangakkara has had an outstanding 12 months and is ranked in the top 10 batsmen in the world in both forms of international cricket. He is looking forward to taking that sort of form into our domestic season”.

South African pace bowler Dale Steyn has also now agreed terms with the Club and again subject to completing his medical will be available from the start of the season until 3 June.

Sanga is a fantastic signing for them and will be a star without question.

Steyn will probably spend most of his time injured, and when on the field be his usual mix of 80% profligate and 20% useful.

So you mean one good signing then? Tongue
County Sim on extended break until I've got less work and more free time. When I have a specific date, I'll post it in the thread.

Steyn is learning his trade and a few months in county cricket will help his cause.  He's rapid and will get quicker too - I think he's going to be more than useful in a couple of years time.

That'll be the Ashley Giles who spent a large part of his career holding up the English tail with steadfast batting, will it?  Not a bad net partner for a developing bowler if you ask me.
When you win the toss - bat.
If you are in doubt, think about it - then bat. If you have very big doubts, consult a colleague - then bat.

i'm talking about Sangakkara, the subject of this thread and it was a joke. I think steadfast batting is a bit far.

They were both the subject of this thread and your post trailed a series of messages about Steyn, not Sanga.  Giles is an easy target for the 'jokes' of the less than informed cricket watcher, isn't he?

I don't think it's confined to the less informed.
