Certainly, Ricky Ponting. Those two hundreds in the 2nd Test against SA. He's in terrific form. Has made 30 test hundreds, and he has made centuries 3 times in each innings of a test match.

Ponting IS the best batsmen of the ERA. That includes Lara, Tendaulkar, Richards, Chappell,etc.... When all the arguments subside about quality of opposition, how they look, technique, etc. The only true indicator is averages. And i mean averages against countries that can actually play cricket... His average is comparable with Tendaluker, Dravid and Kallis(All up around the mid 50s). However, look at Tendaulker, Kallis and Dravid's averages against Bangladesh and Zimbabwe. That combines with the number of innings played against these minnows, has bumped their averages up by app. 2-4. Conversely, ponting has played only a couple of innings against both countries with a surprisingly modest average. Take out averages against these 2 countries and Pontings still stands at around 58, whilst the others drop back down to about 52-53.

Ponting is the best current batsman and icing on the cake is the fine form he has , infact for last 18 months he has been the most prolific, where as the nearest rival inzi has a severe slump and he has gone bad, the only one performing in the same way is M. hussey another ausie!

Yeah, Ponting is the best batsman in nowadays. He scores so quickly, and makes big scores all the time. He is unlucky to miss out on a century on debut.

R u mad? Younis Khand is not far near the best batsman in test cricket. It should be Either Ricky Ponting or Inzamam-ul-haq. Rahul Dravid also comes in the list alongwith brian but Sachin should not be included. |

Kevin Pietersen desereves a mention in both forms of the game is in sizzling touch at the moment,so I think he is the best batsman in the world for the moment.Ramnaresh Sarwan has also been playing some good cricket of late. |

i reckon mike hussey is under rated in international and county cricket because lst year he set durham off on the road 2 promotion of both forms of domestic cricket and also he then went and became the fastest person to reach a 1,000 runs in test cricket

Tendulkar is the best technically. |
||
|
"His classical hits down the ground, met with a checked drive, were Tendulkar at his best. It was though he had a new lease of life." - Sachin Tendulkar's return to cricket with a 91-Ball century.
