Best batsman playing at the moment

sachin is the best forever.veerus bat is all over the place.in odis and tests he has become a nightmare for india.he needs to go back to ranji trophy and hit the poor quickies in those flat tracks.that might help him to get back his form

Based on a whole career's worth of performance I'd have to go for Sachin, but based on recent performances, I'm going to have to say Mohammad Yousuf, his form in Test cricket at the moment is so good there is rarely a game in which he plays in goes by without seeing him score a big hundred, absolutely breathtaking form.

I just want to tell some people that this thread is on players playing at the moment and not their career statistics.

I'd go for Yousuf anyday. His form has been terrific and he has been doing a twitch better than Ponting. To tell the truth lightining quick, remove everybody else from the list as they don't even stand a choice. Even better, keep only Yousuf on the list and let's see what others say.

Why Gilchrist and Sangakara not featured in the list, last few weeks they have been phenomenal , the best part both are technically sound and consistently entertaining and thats my idea of best batsmen. You can have technically correct batsmen like dravid or Kallis but hardly entertaining where as entertaining players like afridi and symonds hardly last long.

  yeah he is a great batsman and his numbers are absolutely phenominal but the way cricket is these days the attacks apart from australias are very ordinary so i wouldnt rate no 1 just yet

Yes I quite agree with the results of this poll. The only three batsmen who could be considered as the greatest in the game today are the three with the most votes. Yousaf, ponting and tendy. Tendy however has dropped a cog or two where as yousaf and ponting are still playing at an optimum level. For mine ponting slightly nudges out yousaf with tendy coming in third. No one else even comes close to these three.

Keep your eyes on AB and JP , the future of South African batting for about 10years at least.  KP will show his class as well - plenty more test tons in the pipeline from the big fella

Michael Clarke , Gambhir and Strauss aren't fairing too badly!

Clarke is the same age that Ponting was when he really up the ante. Clarke could be the next Ponting.
