No he isn't but there are loads better. I even think there are a few keepers in England now that are better than him. |

He is the Hampshire Wicketkeeper! He is a very good batsman who is also a relatively good keeper. He recently qualified for england. He was born in South Africa.

Born in South Africa eh, like just about everyone else we have! I would now say Sangarkarra over Gilchrist because of his poor ashes series more than aything. |

I think according to me its still Gilly until he retires and thats after the World Cup. Thats what he said.
His keeping skills are still great and he is still the most dangerous and entertaining batsman. Maybe after Afridi, but i prefer Gilly. |

I'm sure i;ve said this in this thread before. Mahendra Singh Dhoni is a very good player in ODI's. He attacks the bowlers and dominates them (much like Shahid Afridi) but he gets too greedy to score runs.

Yeah, he can't really play in the pressure. In the last series he got out after some good players went back to pavilion. Only Dravid can play in pressure.

He plays under pressure once in a while. Like when he made 148 against Pakistan this year with Pathan.

Sangakarra
Gilly Dhoni The current world of keeper-batsman is a bit worse for wear compared to a while ago. |

I think Dhoni is a better ODI Batsman because of his use of flamboyant shots (sweep etc.) but Akmal is a better test batsman than Dhoni. I think Dhoni is a better keeper than Akmal purely on this Pakistan Vs England series where Akmal has been terrible.

Why does nobody rate Boucher,he's having a ripping year with the bat & gloves quickest to reach 100 test dismissals by a keeper.

Boucher isn't very good with the bat AK, he scored some half-centuries but that isn't good enough

Some match-winning fifties infact he's the 2nd leading run scorer by a keeper this year with Mahendra Singh Dhoni behind him in 3rd place.Kumar Sangakkara leads the way not suprsingly.I also think Khaled is a very good keeper if he played for England or someone higher ranked then Bangladesh I think he would get more praise for his efforts and he'd make bigger scores at better averages.Rifat do you think this young keeper Musfaq Rahim or something else is capable of becoming a potental star with the gloves and bat in the international arena? What was his name I forgot Musfqir Rahim I think. |

I'm not trying to pick on Kamran Akmal here but he's already dropped 2 chances in the space of 10 overs I think he's a fantastic keeper but this tour of England proves he needs to improve outside the sub-continent just like Dhoni who hasn't proved his worth outside the sub-continent.Without a doubt Kamran Akmal is one of the best batsman under pressure he's up there but not quite with such types as Mark Boucher,Adam Gilchrist & Kumar Sangakkara. He's in the middle somewhere along with Dhoni,McCullum,Read & Mashud.

Yes he has a lot of potential, performed well in the U-19 word cup, and has an average of almost 35 in first class cricket, very very impressive considering he is only 17, has 2 centuries and 3 fifties in 10 First Class matches Edited by Rifat |
