Many match winning fifties and he also plays well under pressure. Watch the World Record Match and its not surpising that he has the 3rd highest amount of runs by a keeper this year till date. He has performed under pressure a lot of times. He can be dangerous with the bat. Has scored some quick fifties and he is even better than Pollock at times. |

akmal is currently having a shocker in england, bat and gloves. to become equal with dhoni he must adapt to other conditions. |

If i had 3 wishes i would do 3 thing... exile mahmood and harmison, make geraint jones the best keeper in the universe and me the best leg spinner. what a lethal combination!

Akmal has also played in South Africa and in Australia, and in my humble opinion, I think he played very well under those circumstances, especially since he was thrown in at the deep end on that first tour to SA. He's probably just a little down on his confidence at the moment. That happens with the best. Gilly, Bouch...there will be a series when things just go wrong.

You are right about that mp. Dhoni didn't bat that well in West Indies, the only big score he got was the 69 runs for 52 balls. He sure is destructive batsmen.

Akmal is a genuine batsman..Dhoni is a dasher, like all wicket keepers he is going through a lean period in alien conditions, he will learn and get better but no doubt that he is an azmazing talent and has achieved a great deal already!

well said.Dhoni needs to know how to calm down his nerves.PLaying rash shots will make more trouble for ur team if u get ut early in the innings. So he needs to learn abt that like other keepers in the world did. |

Sangarkarra is the best batting wicketkeeper. He can play all the shots in the book. He rolls his wrists well when playing shots. He is an exciting batsman to watch.

As Gilchrist is gone Sangakarra is the next best followed by Dhoni and Akmal.

And you forgot about Boucher. He would go between Sangakarra and Dhoni. The English wicket keepers would be last on the list

I think you are new to cricket .Boucher is probably one of the most underrated players today ,Sanga tops followed by Churchy and Boucher . |

Whose Churchy? I forgot about Boucher sorry. After Gilchrist, he is easily second. He has been second for a while now.

Well i think After Gilly Sangakara would be the best keeper. After him Boucher bcz hes experienced player. After him AKmal and then Dhoni.
bcz Akmal has performed in so many pressured situations especially against India. |

Talking of keeping Prasanna Jayawardane is a better keeper than Sangakkara and he has proven it in the domestic level |

Prasanna Jayawardene is an exceptional keeper he just needs to improve his batting a little and would become a superb keeper-batsman for Sri Lanka I certainley do hope he holds his place in the team in many series to come. |

Not to throw a cat among the pigeons but heres my thoughts
Best keeper in terms of behind the stumps i belive is McCullem. Keeper who bats the best is Sangakara But best keeper + batsmen has to be Gilchrist. best keeping teqnique and usually pretty constant with the willow in hand EDIT: just an after thought. what about AB devilliars. i guess he isn't first choice keeper but quite usefull Edited by NZ_Fast |

AB de Villiers could well take the gloves from Boucher when he retires - solid keeper with nice hands.
The Ashes will tell us if Gilchrist still has the ability to flail a tiring attack and take Australia out of sight. If he doesn't then the best keeper/batsmen is up for grabs. It would've been Sangakarra , but playing him solely as a batsman was a resounding success (Jayawardene is very solid) and I don't expect to see him donning the gloves in tests for the forseeable future. He'll still do the job in the one dayers though. Edited by Sledger |

so gilchrist isn't a good batter anymore!? HES AMAZING! he doesnt get tired, so yeah! he keeps to brett lee and nathan bracken (standing up to stumps to 130kmh swinger) and then opens for australia and puts on like 100 in 80 balls! i reckon gilly is the best, even just being there behind the stumps, talking and getting people motivated. |

AB is a very good Keeper already...its just that they want him to keep his mind focused on batting and Boucher is still valuable to the team. But when Boucher retires a few years from now A.B will definetely take over and my money is on him to be the best future Keeper/Batsman. |

Parthiv Patel is the exact opposite of Prasanna Jayawardane! Parthiv needs to improve keeping. He is probably the best batsman in the world of his age. Prasanna Jayawardane was not scoring well up to about 1 yr back. His keeping was exceptional (among the best in current world cricket). He was miles ahead of Kaluwitharana / Lanka de Silva / Sangakkara lot. |

I agree. Parthiv is no where close to being the best batsman of his age. If he was then he would still be in the team. Prasana Jaywardene has just come. Give him time and then say that he is the best wicket keeper in the world. You never know. He might go down the drain just like Parthiv Patel.

very true DF, Parthiv was on his way to becoming India's prime WK when until thundering DHonie came into the picture. Dhoni vs parthiv, parthiv got no chance. Same thing could happen to prasanna

The chances of some one replaceing Prasanna with keeping abilities per se is a big big big challenge. He'll definitely will fade away if he does not score respectably. Because backup is very good for Sri Lanka with Sngakkara and Dilshan in the ranks of WK About Parthiv Patel, yeah ... That may be probably when he got the test cap |
