Is the heritage good? Did you try a private bin? I wonder if there is much difference, because the Heritage is like $100 cheaper.

Heritage has worked well for me - although it has rained like crazy here and I haven't played much so far this season. I looked at the Private Bin but couldn't see the benefit from the price difference. A guy in my team likes his PB though. Did you buy yours online?

No I haven't although he is pretty well known around the traps in NZ. His reputation as a bat maker is very good.

does anybody know what is the weight of the morrant pads imean the international small mens one( 60£) one if anyone has used them what they feel about them, iam using a slaz... 25 quid ones for nearly 3 years now they are moulded to my legs well just wondering the morrants stuff do they come in your way while batting. as they look too straight and ? how is the flexibility of these pads all the bats men excluding sachin ie shewag, dhoni etc they cant move their legs at all and seem to use these type of pads and always feel like they are bringing their bat around the pads.. anymore thoughts about these. |

The morrant ultralights are good pads, but personally they are much to pricey. A team mate of mine wears them and they seem to have moulded great with his legs and the flap part above the knee roll bends right around so it doesn't get in the way at all. He's always saying that they are the only pair of pads he'll ever have to buy again - some kind of guarantee they offer. I use BDM Titanium pads , very similar design, just cheaper. Sachin uses them at the moment and i've found them to be absolutely awesome. www.middlepeg.com has some info about the morrant's and their story, i believe they have the weight info etc.

Have you tried the OBO pads MAde in NZ
They are a one piece moulded pad, individually tailored for each leg LH and RH they are PU weigh nothing with only 2 straps. If you don't mind looking like a storm trooper and taking some ribbing in the dressing room and the middle they are a superb product. Have a look at the web site!

I HATE those pads from NZ.
Seriously, they are not good quality.
I know people who have bought them - very expensive - only to have them break and tear very easily.
Plus their design is just plain ugly and they feel bad on - DO NOT BUY THESE PADS!!

Like many of the 'older' contributors here I still have (tucked away in my loft) a pair of rigid corrugated SS pads with thin buckled straps that felt like you were running in oversized brass greaves. But the ball could smash you squarely on the shin and you'd barely feel a thing.
I now, after a bit of chopping and changing, play in Reader pads - dead cheap but offer all of the features I want - that is to say if I get smacked on the shin I hardly feel it. That said, I have this lump of wood I hold in my hand when I am playing and I find if I use it to smite away the round red thing that chap at the other end is lobbing at me my legs never feel a thing! |

£50.00 is heaps...considering your age and level you'd get a perfectly acceptable pair for £30.00 I reckon |

For £50 you can get some of the lightweight ones that all the Indian players are wearing.
BDM
Morrant
And SG all do a similar pair

Not had a problem with my Aero/Obo pads.I get plenty of stick from team mates and opposition players alike. They are quite extensively used in NZ and one or two county players have started to use them.
I used the original Slazenger moulded light weight pads in the early 80's,basically exactly like the Morrant and BDM ones available now, they were good but too bouncy.
The best thing is to use what you prefer and find most comfortable, despite what other people claim to be the best!
Cheers,
Mark.

Mate I couldn't agree more. I love my Aero's but the look of them turns some people off. I haven't heard of any of the problems that Heinzhummer refers to above. Six guys in my team use them too and have done for a couple of seasons. I've had no problems with my Aero kit.
People should use what they feel comfortable in.

I'm looking to raise my game actually, plus these pads are going to last me till I'm 17 so they need to be good quality. |

17 - that's 2 years, yes? Strewth how often do you get hit on the legs to wear them out that quickly?

I think you have got some of your wires crossed Heinzhummer - despit sounding a bit too argumentative for any decent discussion!
The Aero gear is being worn by proffessionals, add Roger Telemarchus to Shane Bond, and I've seen a aphoto of Caroline Atkins - the England women's Captain, and a top-order bats...person. I'm sure that this year you will see more and more professionals to that list as the gear really does work. The only issues have been the company's transition (from using the Obo name, to setting up Aero as a brand in it's own right), and the time it takes to set up a proper operation in the UK - which is on the other side of the globe to NZ!
You clearly like your BDMs, but maybe that's because you don't mind running with your knees 20 inches apart! I don't think it will appeal to every cricketer, but the one's that want to optimize performance will certainly want it. And at the end of the day, who rises to the top?

And I've just checked with Aero, they offer you a year's warranty on all products. Did one on these pads come and attack you in your sleep or something???
