Best ever ODI player?

wht happened to the all rounders mate....they are some player in da list more than a batsman...they should reward some more points...(tendulkar..jayasuriya...kallis...klusener)

This is only for batsmen mate. Thinking about a suitable nethod to rate bowlers at the moment.

Adam Gilchrist is best ODI player. He is aggressive Batsman along with batting and also wicket keeping. He was considered as a best wicket keeper and batsman in the historty of the game. He holds many records both ODI and test matches.

Gilchrist being retired might have somthing to do with that.

Ok here we go for the bowlers. The logic is simple. In ODIs average, strike rate and economay rate all has a say. I gave equal importnce to them.

Then as for the bastmen, I've calculated relative averages, strike rates and economay rates for each bowler. The ratios between averages, SR. and ERs of a partucular bowler and rest of the bowlers in the worls that were playing during his career calculated. Then the Longetivity Index (LI) was calculated using number of balls bowled. The equation I used is 1 + ((B - 5000) / 50000. The average of ratios were multiplied by LI to get the final points.

Next, the test bowlers. Similar theory was used to compare them. That is comparing bowlers Average, Sr and ER to the rest of the bowlers who were playing in the same period as him. But unlike in ODIs where I gave equal importance to Average, ER and SR, the weight is different. Strike rate is the most important in Tests. I would take a bowler who's going to deliver 10-0-40-3 over a bowler who will do 20-5-40-3. Hence, SR carries a weight of 2.0. Average carries a weight of 1.5. Economy rate 0.5

Example:
Player: Muttiah Muralitharan 1992-2008
Wickets: 756, Avg: 21.96, SR: 54.2, ER: 2.42.

From 1992-2008, bowlers have bowled 1405324 deliveries, giving away 687481 runs and taking 20997 test wickets. This gives a Global Average(GA) of 32.74, Global SR (GSR) of 66.93 and Global Economay Rate (GER) of 2.94 during Murali's career.

The Avrage of all bowlers in test cricket is 31.49, SR - 70.90 and ER - 2.66.

Based on that Murali has an Adjusted Avg, SR and ER of 21.12, 57.42 and 2.19. These are 1.550, 1.388 and 1.166 times better than the global values. The combined value calculated as (1.55 * 1.5 + 1.388 * 2 + 1.166 * 0.5)/4.

Longetivity index was calculated using number of deliveries bowled. (Balls - 20000) / 100000 was used.

For pre 1935 playes 25% added to the points because of the difficult situations they were faced with.

Inclusion criteria was at least 3000 deliveries.

Fred at number 4 - there might be something to these tables afterall !
