Of course when Aravinda was not at the wicket. He hit the a** out of Wasim and Waqar when playing at death overs |

That's why I included both of them. No point in arguing who has better performance. They are of their own class where no one can join them at the moment. I don't think Rhodes wa miles ahead. Ponting is close, So is Keith Arthurton. Roshan Mahanama is probably a better out fielder than Rhodes. Herscelle Gibbs was regarded as best in SAF, when Rhodes was regarded as best in the world. Derek Crookes, TM Dilshan, Symonds are also close. Symonds may not move as quick as Rhodes, but complements it wih his throw. David Boon, Mark Taylor, Mark Waug, Hashan Tillakaratne are definietly better close-in fielders than Rhodes. (I can't remember the names if all those Indian short leg fielders who were brilliant) So, Rhodes was the best all round fielder, but there wer better ones in specialized positions. In my opinion, Jonty was not miles ahead, but just ahead of the well known fielding greats of modern era |

Boy, I telling you, I have not see one as good as Rhodes. To get a ball to pass him at point was a miracle to the batters. Ponting and Symonds can't ever beat Rhodes. Gibbs was regarded as the best in SA, you must have heard wrong, Rhodes is a legend. The best I have seen and the best up to now. I won't compare him to some past players as I haven't seen them but from the 90's era, not one was better than him. |

surely Sachin tendulkar. average 44, 73 half centuries and 40 centuries. Strike rate of 86 for a man who played 368 match and the only man on earth with14000 runs. These are a hell of hard targets for batsman these days and for those to come in the future and targets that some batsman don't even think about achieving in their entire career. when we see these stats, if you are a bias kid or not you will know he is the greatest batsman alive on earth. |

Thats according to stats, BFM. Many people doesn't like to or don't want to go with statistics. Opions vary in this kinds of thread, so don't expect everybody to pick only 1 cricketer.

Jonty Rhodes never feilded in the slips as Mark Waugh did. Never looked as cool as Mark Waugh did, and could not throw as Mark Waugh did from the boundary.
As far as Tendulker goes he might not be the best going round at the minute but he has to be the best playing presently. Lara, Ponting, Dravid are the next best but a long way behind him. Sachin cannot compare to the man known solely as VIV. He intimidated the bowler more than any man ever has including Bradman with his sheer presence. |

I said he's the all round best. But HE'S NOT MILES AHEAD!!! Please read the post! And as Rhodes for point Mark Waugh and Mark Taylor were for slips! there are a unch of very good fielders around. Yes, they might have taken a leaf out of Rhodes' book, and hey are also very very good. |

Pssst! Don't tell that to Chandrashekar and Abdul Qadir! THEY intimidated great VIV for a change! Viv never scored a test century when Chandra was playing mate!!! So was his grip on Viv's batting, virtually Chandra's presence made him vulnerable to the spin battery of Indians. And how about Jayasuriya for Intimidating bowlers for that matter? and Murali for batters? I pesonaly feel Viv will be a lesser batsman if Murali and Warne were plaing in that era with Wasim and Waqar reverse swiging it as well. Edited by Wal Bada |

Intimidate bowlers where? for just 25 runs and every 5 matches he will indimate bowler with a 50 or more. Like it or not it not enough to class with Intimadating bowler. Have a look at gilchrist, and you will see what intimadate means. You just bias, simple as that. |

Thats a no pointer there Wal. For some strange reason it seems to me that you hate sir Viv. There are many greats that has been bamboozled by spinners. If there was none there would have been no need for Murali and Warne today. It should be fair for me to say now that if Bradman was around and especially batsmen like lara, Murali would have never had that wicked record. If that fearsome 4 prong Windies attack was around Jayasuriya might have not been around. Yes, Jayasuriya have an effect on bowlers as well but VIV will always be remembered as a better batsman by miles than him cause of the fact that he performed better with a breath taking average of 47 compared to Jayasuriya meager average of 32. My point is that a legend in one era would always be a legend in another era. If you base it on what they do all round then hats off to Imran Khan then. A wicked seamer and good enough with the bat in ODI's too and a very inspirational captain. |

Okay peoples here it is. Best Test player ever - Sir Gary Sobers by a mile, Bradmans choice also.
Best ODI player, best batsman Tendulker or Richards, best bowler Akram....... but best player, I will pick one who many laugh at but is the first player I would choose. Lance Klusnear. If you picked the above three, I would simply put Jaya, Gilly and Waqar and feel pretty even. Klusnear was the most versatle danger any team ever encountered. He had that aura and ability that no other possessed. |

There have been plenty who are probably better but for a X Factor no-one else could bring, I would choose the Zulu first and let you choose the next 12 for your side. You could not pick a side better so long as I had Klusnear.

Votes are a waste of time mate so don't take them serious! I liked BOBBI's comments about Klusener. He was indeed a breath taking player. A fine striker of the cricket ball and lanched the ball fiercely. The 1999 world cup is one that he will never forget at all in his life! He was a great player for SA and its beats me why he was dropped when his career wasn't even over!!! |

Haha, as far as I know Klusener was never bald and he's not in the team because Smith found him to be a disruptive influence in the team. Klusener wasn't a team person.
