What would you say is the best bat for people who dont slog and play conservatively. I think it needs to be a super light bat so I think its the Kookaburra Genesis Cyclone. Does anyone have different opinions on the best light bat or non slogging bat? |

I'm using an Island Cricket Excel bat - It's 2lb 6oz which lets you plays the quicks but has a middle which pings the ball like a much heavier bat.

Well, there is no such thing as a sloggers bat and a non sloggers bat. Different bats suit different people, non dependent on your style of play. For instance, i hear alot of people say that the Newbury Uzi is a sloggers bat - i have seen 3 pros use it, only one was slogging and that was a Number 11 at the end of an O.D.I innings! To me, there is no such thing, its all marketing policies trying to fool you - pick a bat that feels right in your hands and the runs will come.

well the uzi might have originally been designed as a sloggin bat, but the fact that it has a bigger middle for its pickup means that a stroke player may like it aswell! and this is true as i have seen very few 'sloggers' actually using that bat! |

A non slogging bat is for a player who doesnt slog therefore it wouldnt be a heavy bat because they are used for people who like to slog. So its a light bat

a slogger would slogg with anything...there isn't a particular make for sloggers and proper batsmen! However having played against a few i have noticed the so called sloggers or big hitters normally favour the heavier bat for maximum power! i would say any gray nicholls or a slazenger bat for stroke makers! See! Noone can define a slogging bat or a non slogging bat. Use a bat that you like - make sure mit feels right. Dont buy it because some salesman says its the right one for you. Oh yeah - its also the most expensive

Yer you are right there warne in the making, if anything though, i spose a so called non slogging bat, is bats which are good for timing and usually have long middles, and i spose a so called slogging bat is a bat with a condensed sweetspot for maximum power and benifits when finding the middle

you could say that a slogging bat is one that is pressed hard, whereas a stroke makers bat is lightly pressed, as the stroke player relies on timing and it less likely to break the bat!

The GM Maestro and its derivatives such as Maestro Control 707 without a doubt is the best non-slogging bat. But these days, there is no point in getting a non-slogging bat - a very well equipped all rounder would be just perfect. I would have to pick the Fusion or Newberryas the best in this regards. |
