If Cook also gets back to his best or anywhere near to it, it is going to be a wonderful contest

I dare say Katich, although being an Aussie I'm slightly bias. Smith, Katich and Gambhir are all in tremendous touch.

Looking at the current form of the players, G.Smith and G.Gambhir will be the best opening pairStar

Well he has had a long lay off. I think he needs some time to get back into the groove. And Rauf has not helped his cause.

He's not proving that point at the moment, is he?%20%20%20 He's playing poorly against India of late. I suppose he still generally makes a very good opener though, By the way he bats eg He has got a good defence and I have seen him attack well too.

Sehwag,Smith or Hayden.
Take your pick.
I think that there are no really good openers at the current time but they really top the rest of them.
Sehwag:because I love to see him when he really blows an attack appart.
Hayden:cause he is quite sollid and can be explosive as well.
Smith:cause he just sits there and becomes hard to move, like a wall.
Though Jayasuria is good as well.

Ok, what's the deal here? You folks trying to rub salt in the wound for Pakistan not having any decent openers. You should've spared us from this torture by not including any opener from the Pakistan team. Especially not him...ugghhh...Farhat, anyone but him.
Regulation without integration leads to suicide.

Sehwag is a world class player but i dont think he is reliable so for me Hayden is the best test opener at present time.

Virender sehwag , his last ten test centuries have been 150 plus scores, two triple centuries, fastest triple century against a decent attack ,excellent average ,good performance against good attacks, hes the most special batsmen at the moment as its amazing how much does he dominate a score card of india when he plays well ,FANTASTIC  in every sence of the word,

Hayden is definitely my favourite, the walk down the pitch is second to none!

Apart from him, I'd be inclined to mention someone like Cook or Smith.

That's Hayden's style and it works so no need fussing about it when it doesn't pay off.

Verendar Sehwags got to be right up their. He's an exalent attacking batsmen. I don't know about Hayden, I've seen many times when he worked so hard to survive the opening pase attack, That he looses concentration and ends up edging the ball to the slips or the WK, In his 20's.
