I just read an article on cricinfo about Bradman, it mentioned a second
class match he played where he got a hundered in 3 eight ball overs
with the guy at the other end getting 2 singles. This is the most
amazing thing I've ever heard about in cricket, the man was a genius.
Remember that the lowest number of balls possible is 17 balls, 22 balls
is astonishing. Has there ever been a more dominating figure in a
sport?

Bradman, as said many times, was a very quick batsman for his time. He made a triple century within a day, which even Sehwag couldn't do. Although he had more overs in a day, the fact that a person played at the speed of Sehwag is those days was astonishing.
What is a second class match? |

Either he is talking about playing for a 2nd XI for a first class team (like NSW 2nd XI) or a first grade club match?

The bowling was complete rubbish and Bradman himself plays down the knock in his own book.
DF talks of a triple hundred in a day by the great man. Yes he did , but in those days they bowled a lot of overs! Better still was a triple hundred scored in a day by Barry Richards against Western Australia in the 80's. On 294 with a single ball to go , he launched the ball over the bowler's head , deep into the stands to complete his 300. The bowler's name - a certain D.K.Lillee !!! Now THAT's what I call a triple hundred!!! Edited by Sledger |

I shall try and retrieve that innings you are talking about. If we are talking about the same dig, he was about 80 odd and told the bloke down the other end he was goiong to have a go... and have a go he did.

Judge the player not by their stats, but by their opposition.

Better to find the Richards' details Bobbi - that was against a 1st class attack in a 1st class game.

Even against children bowling, a 22 ball hundred is unbelievable.

I already gave an answer for that. Bradman didn't open the batting. He came one down and a triple century with 120 overs, out of which Bradman would've faced 50 of them, is still incredible during that time. Even today, a batsman needs a full day to reach that score. |

I agree, Afridi couldn't do that, not even against a 30 mph medium pacer.

If a 30mph medium pacer bowled to me, I'll be as good as out before he throws the ball! |

Well 17 sixes, which just makes it even harder to do it, even against dross bowling.

But its still way way difficult to hit century in 22 balls, unless if he there was match fixing. I don't think those bowlers were that stupid to bowl balls that would go for 6 everytime.

And I don't think Bradman was way stupid to become the greatest batsman, but true it could be difficult too. Nobody has seen it, so no one can say.

Of course it isn't easy, even for someone like Bradman. Must've been a mighty good knock to watch.

I think that its not easy too, but think outside of the bun, do you think the opposite team will bowl the way a batsmen want them too. After few sjpts upi cam figure it out what kind of shots that batsmen like.
