Does anyone have any tips on breaking in wicket keeping gloves, I have just started playing after 6 years out of the game.  Sorry if this is in the wrong thread, I'm a newbie.

cheers

Uh.....wear them? I'd probably suggest some 'shadow' keeping to start with...especially since youve been out of the game for a while. Wearing the gloves, just pretend your standing up to a spinner (or standing back to a pace bowler) and take the ball exactly as you would/should in a game. This should not only get you used to keeping again, but also start to break in the gloves.

you have to catch a lot of balls with them on, it took me about 300 overs with my gloves on before I felt comfortable with them. If you can't wait that long, get someone to throw in the ball hard from about 10 metres away that should help. Also while you have them on, try and flex them about a lot to break them in quicker.

Go around the house with them on and this may sound a bit freaky but wear them to bed!!! This will assist with a bit of sweat and will "mould" them to your hands.
