Yeah it was a close rivalry. He want's to play a few other teams, and this would interfere with the cup schedule so he decided not to join.

My primary reason for not joining is that I wanted to play a few other people that I know and by joining the cup, I wouldnt be able to do that.

Also, since I won the cup last season (whether by 0.02 or 20 on NRR doesnt matter), I dont feel as bad about not playing this season.

Good luck to everyone!!

Depending on how long competitors can last in the cup, Dan Can's inactivity means he may not be participating in the cup. Will Backfoot master be taking his place or will we now need a further two members to participate in the challenge cup?

i.e everybody in the cup selects a number 1-14

then theres groups A-D

A Has 5 teams
B has 4
C has 4
D has 5

2 goes through from each

Then again a draw of teams 1-8, teams that win get two points going into super 8's (two groups of 4) and then top 2 from that goes int semis and then a final

I don't like that idea because the cups are separated for a reason- ability.

Good one Graham!

First of all, yes cup matches are every Sunday and not of us have been eliminated yet. Secondly, Friendlies are only available on a Sunday.

I think I like the orginal format with just the two seperate groups.

Monty you're a half wit. Think before you post, in Battrick lesser teams very rarely beat teams with a significantly higher ability, so theres no point in beginners entering a cup where its inevitable that they're going to lose. You cant compare the CWC to Battrick...

Exactly.

Well I'm out of the cup. No shame in being beaten by a better team.

Yeah, I quite like Monty's idea from my point of view, but obviously it would be no fun for new teams because big upsets are almost unheard of in bt.

I should be out of the cup today as well, I'll check everyone else although it would be helpfull if you could post when you're out because I'm quite busy at the moment

Well this is just an idea seeing that you guys are stuck.

How about having three Divisions ie Div 1 with 5 teams, Div 2 With 5 teams and Div 3 with 5 teams.

The top 2 teams from each Div gets promoted and the bottom 2 get relegated.

Teams for each Division can be selected on the basis of "Obviousness".

For eg, Dan and Monty would obviously be in Div. 3 because they are relatively new teams where as Clobber would be in Div.1 being a more experienced player.

Advantages of this format:
- More excitement with all this promotion and relegation stuff!
- Odd number of teams doesn't matter because whoever joins this after this season will start right at the bottom of Div.3 The other two top divisions will have a constant number of 5 or 6(depending on preferences of the organizer)
- No one will get knocked out because this won't be a cup. It will be a League.
- It will end easily in 8 weeks with each team getting to play against all other teams in its division twice (1 home game/1 away game). If people feel its too short it can be extended to 12 weeks but that'd mean uneven distribution of home and away games.

If you guys think this is a good idea I will plan it better. Right now its just a suggestion. If you guys think its nice, I will plan it better and provide further details.

Thanks.

And i forgot to mention it will make the competition more even because teams will usually play against teams of their own class.

No No No No No! The cup shall stay how it has been. It's been a success every time I've played in it, why should it change now? Slogger is going to do an excellent job using Rifat's format. You new guys just need to accept that.
Good one Graham!

Don't get so excited man! Just chill! It was just a suggestion Tongue

I thought it'd be more exciting.

Lets see what others have to say about the format I proposed.

Note: Slogger don't feel insecure that you will lose your job as a manager of the tournament. After everything is planned out, you will be the one who will implement everything(announce fixtures, NR and other stuff).

by the way, bondy it will make the whole Cup more competitive rather than making it competitive for only the new guys.

Rather then double posting that, you could always edit that into your post.

It's an interesting idea ... but I think it could work! My only concern is that the 3 leagues won't be as even as you planned. Although there may be 2 or 3 teams that are of the same level but it won't be completly even. But I guess that's life!

We should just stick to the orginal format though. It's simple, everyone can understand it and it works.

unless some of the experienced battrick players won't to change it, it won't be changed.

I liked the cup in the format we had it last year. We had some good, even matches and it worked very well.

To turn it into 3 divisions would make it a league, and all Battrick members play in two of those already. I'd prefer it to be just like last time.
