Taylor's been my man so far - two stunning cameos. He times the ball beautifully and seems totally unphased when batting. I suppose the real test will come when he has to do it to finish a match. Impressed with Kallis and Bravo yesterday too. Kallis wouldn't have been able to bowl , nevermind take 3 wickets when he was the famous "Tubs' Kallis of yesteryear!

I just hope he does not follow what the other all rounders in the game are. He is an asset to test cricket.

I was mentioning to some folks the other day that without the International players, these T20's wouldn't be worth following!

T&T could win the Trophy - when its for the money, the West Indies can turn up - remember the Stanford 2020 for $20 million - who won that?

Haha, you are spot on there mate, no joke. But in all fairness to T&T, they're a pretty good T20 side and they get along well with each other so the team spirit is great which helps.

Laxman looked decent in Deccan's opening game where he batted with Gilly at the top. I think it might be time that some of the Indian talent stand up and show what they can do.

The emergance of Henriques,Paine,Fergusson,Hilfy and few other youngsters have put Aussies back on track to retain their numero uno status. Which I hate !!!. Let Aussies be behind India in ODI and Test, is my wish.

C de Villiers , the SA bowler. Thanks CL for treating us with another talent before they made it to their national side. Rory Hamilton brown did not click yesterday but impressed me in his very very short stay.

Damn! both IPL sides are through, if we can't make it today it'll be very embarassing that the Champions are out and other two have qualified. Had they been knocked out we'd have been under no pressure today.

No sam, there is nothing like embarassing in here. These first round formats are so delicate, any good team can go out in first round itself. That's the beauty that's the pain of these formats.

CJ de Villiers gets a lot of press coverage out here , he's going to scare a few batsmen in a year or two. Great discipline yesterday in the super over - to hit the top of off in successive deliveries under such pressure shows that his action is rock solid. The Eagles are a team without any superstars , but I fully expect one of the richer franchises to poach de Villiers in the very near future. When that happens he'll become an international cricketer in next to no time.

Yes, the format is ridiculous. Why should they have a second round? and please we need better tracks for IND-AUS series.

He can biff a bit , but I've not seen much of him with the bat really, he's had few chances. Allan Donald rates him highly and sees him as the next really quick seamer in the country.

Better tracks in what sense sam? I don't think none of them have been featherbeds. Delhi and Hyderabad have tested batsman in being low and slow, while Bangalore is just a bit of a belter.
What kind of pitch you want? The pitches are bit tricky and they are keeping low and slow with inconsistent bounce.Doesen't it help already battered bowlers?

I agree with Raj , featherbeds are of no benefit in any form of the game. Test pitches should have sides getting around 350-400 first time around (for both sides) and a sporting 50 over pitch around 250-260. A similar sort of pitch should be used for T20 which should result in a score of about 140. It's important that wickets fall and the skills of both batsmen and bowlers are tested fully. Snake pits are just as bad as featherbeds - bowlers need to graft for their wickets , just as batsmen have to work for their runs. I think that the finest , most exciting cricket matches in any form of the game are those where scoring and wicket taking is nicely balanced.

They are too much in favour of bowlers. I'd be happy to see a wicket which produces 260-270 runs in 50 overs. They are way too slow and low... and on such tracks the team batting first is always at a BIG BIG advantage, just see how many teams are winning batting first in all these low scoring matches, and that too it's T20! just imagine what will happen in a 50 over game!

Yes they are a in favour of bowlers but not too much, but then we have seen likes of Kallis,Duminy,Taylor all of those paced their innings to take their team to a commendable score.I feel the pitches are just about 140-160 pitches, It's just that some teams lacked application or were over-rawed due to big ocassion.Adusting to sub-continent pitches for the first time in their careers takes time.

Shaun Marsh is back, selected for the India ODI series and just made 70 for WA... he's another top player. Look out for Alistair McDermott, son of Craig McDermott the 80s and 90s speedster for Australia. Jon Holland looks a good left are spinning talent, a little bit of Vettori about him. You can't discount Phillip Hughes from your list either, 2 test tons in 5 matches is a good return and he's only 20 and will improve.

So T@T do it again in thrilling fashion! The much fancied DC had enough chances to win this one , but the senseless run out of Symonds cost them dearly. Pollard can give it a right crack and that little cameo took them to a decent total , but I didn't think it'd be enough. Fidel Edwards gave his West Indian mates a real going over , but ti just wasn't enough! Highly entertaining (I never thought I'd say that about T20!) and I'm sure JP loved the result!!!

The Styris run out was so crucial. that guy who was batting with Suman was plying as a batsman - but he was so very poor. Certainly these teams can't do without overseas stars. Just imagine had there been no IPL and the Indian teams were represented by only local players - they would not have advanced at all.

You have to also remember that the teams playing are the best domestic sides, which means we're not necessarily seeing the best players from each nation (e.g. Pietersen plays for Hampshire, not the other 2 counties being represented).
The whole VIC team is full of local players who don't represent Australia (and for that matter are all Australian , with no overseas stars unlike the English and Indian teams). Besides Siddle, all the guys in the Vic team basically played the whole domestic competition. NSW has Lee and Clark who didn't play last season in their side , but the rest are basically domestic-only players (while of course some have international experience). You have to admit that the SA and Australian teams, particularly the Aussie teams are far and away the best domestic sides in the world.

Trescothick flies home mid way through the CL because of recurrence of his stress related illness. really very sad this. Does anyone has any idea what this illness is all about? I have never ever seen/heard anyone suffer from this kind of illness before. Is it like you just can't stay away from home?

I myself wonder what it is sam but I guess we'll never know. I really feel it for Trescothick!
T&T played a decent game yesterday, they didn't get enough but Deccan Chargers with a line up that they have, they have failed miserably. 150 should have been a walk in the park.
Fidel Edwards showed why express pacers is one of the best beauty in Cricket - there's hardly any better thrill than watching balls fly off the deck from the stands! It's a good sign for me as a West Indian fan, nuff Aussie batsmen being hospitalised come November from him and Roach.

This is really sad to see Tresco going through the same pain all over again - despite his wife being on tour. What a loss to world cricket this guy is.
