I've moved this post to this forum as its more of a round up than a live on going match debate and so its probably more fitting here. Anyway we need something going in this (County News) forum now like we have with the "Current Matches" forum and the "General Cricket Talk" forum.

Good to see England players getting a run out for their counties. Giles only played in one Championship game last year, due to a combination of the West Indies tour and a congested international programme. One of those only comes along every 4 or 5 years, the other is here to stay it seems. And of course central contracts means that England players are likely to be rested between Tests, anyway.

Latest from the Oval: Surrey 6-1 in reply to Sussex 370. Looks as if they had more rain there today.
I only mention this match because I'm going there tomorrow (well, later today). It looks as if a little co-operation between the captains will be necessary to ensure a result here (unless Surrey have to follow on - surely not )

Champions Warwickshire in a strong position against Glamorgan. An unbeaten 144 from Mike Powell , a timely reminder from Ian Bell , out for 96 and a quickfire 85* from Dougie Brown took them to 415-4 at stumps on day 2. Glamorgan all out 198 on the 1st day.
Sussex 370 allout , Michael Yardy 111 top scoring. Rikki Clarke 4-91 the best of the Surrey bowlers. Rain stopped play with Surry 6-1 in reply James Kirtley bowling Scott Newman.
Hampshire struggling on the dodgy Rose Bowl wicket. After dismissing Gloucester for 221 , with Jon Lewis smashing a fast 40 , Warne 3 wickets , they are 111-6 in their 2nd knock. They lead by only 87 runs going into day 3.

I hope you didn't waste your time, Tailender. It'll take a lot more than a little co-operation now. Surrey were lucky!

Kent 342-9 at Canterbury against Warwickshire, a fine debut ton by Martin van Jaarsveld (118) - good player this lad , I saw a lot of him when he played for Northern Transvaal. He never really broke through into the test side , although he made 49 against England in Durban last year.
Another 5 wkt haul for Ashley Giles - some start to the season! Rob Key failed (4) caught off Heath Streak. Kent collapsed from 301-4 , to 342-9 at the close - good fightback by the champions.
Nottingham 399-6 after being put in by Middlesex. Solid opening partnership by Darren Bicknell and Jason Gallian of 74. Then from 127-1 , they lost 3 quick wickets including new skipper Stephen Fleming out cheaply 4th ball. Chris Read , trying to impress the England selectors made a fine 6 3 , putting on a hundred partnership with David Hussey. Hussey is still there on 117* - Notts requiring a single to secure full batting bonus points.
Sussex dismissed for 252 against Hampshire at Hove. Sussex were 189-2 in the afternoon session , Goodwin (87) giving Warne a hard time. Michael Yardy making another ton (104) before the batting collapse followed. Started by Warne with a brilliant caught and bowled to get rid of Chris Adams. Lanky quickie Chris Tremlett the start , taking 6-44 - an English youngster to watch out for !
Hampshire were 67-1 at the close , James Kirtley removing Michael Brown.
