Has anybody played this game, if so what do you think of it and why?

I personally think it's a fairly good game but it has a lot of bugs and is quite unrealistic, especially in one-day cricket where I've seen games end up with teams on 250-0! And the Twenty20 mode is extremely unrealistic and you rarely get past 100 either, but if you're bored the game will help pass the time in my opinion.

Is this the Rockingham Sports game?

If so, have they still not sorted out the bugs?!

Yes, I think it is the Rockingham Sports Game, my version of it is fine but I haven't played it for a while now so they may have sorted the rest of them out by now. I think the better thing about the game though is that you can play as domestic teams from all the test-playing nations, as opposed to just the English county teams in Cricket Captain, but I'd still go for Cricket Captain as the better game.

After all the build up to this the absolute horror stories when it emerged have pretty well put me off it for good

As I was saying on Freddie's story thread, I had a look at this last night, and it's actually not all that bad considering the horror stories and everything.

I found it quite easy to get into, nothing needed that much explaining and the ability to coach all over the world is brilliant - this is as close to a cricketing version of ChampMan we've got at the moment.

Mind, there are still bugs and flaws which I found, for example:

1) I had Trescothick bowling and keeping wicket simultaneously
2) Some strange bowling choices on autoplay
3) Ricky Ponting opening the batting for Australia
4) Brad Haddin picked as a batsman for Australia

Otherwise though, everything seemed pretty realistic, although there seem to be a lot of international double-hundreds being scored.

I think the Trescothick bowling and keeping and the bowling options on autoplay are always a problem, I don't autoplay because you don't get any control over who you bowl or bat on what aggresion or in what order so I don't bother with that. The batting line-ups and stuff are sometimes bound not to be accurate though, on the ICC Ashes Edition you had Hussey opening the batting for Australia and Trescothick batting at number 5 for England, and you do sometimes get keepers playing as batsmen, but otherwise there isn't much wrong. With the batting scores it can be a bit unrealistic sometimes but they're working on trying to improve it I think, on the old version I was once on 500-0! The Twenty20 is the unrealistic one, as they haven't quite sorted it out yet and you get scored like 100-3 or something, but they are working hard on improving it.
