Hi guys. I'm from Singapore and am going to London for a couple of months. Could someone tell me where in London would I be able to get reasonably priced bats? Am also interested in Fusion bats. Are they available in London? cheers

Lillywhites in Piccadilly Circus will no doubt carry a decent range of cricket gear. I don't know about any specialist shops in the area though.

For a Fusion you would be better off contacting Bill or James directly through their website.

whoever could predict the British weather would be a very wealthy man!

It shouldn't be all that bad though.

The best shop in London is VKS it stocks quite a few major brands and is better than Lilleywhites as I think they have been bought out by Sports World. If that is the case they'll only sell cheap Slazenger & Fearnley gear

VKS is the UK agent for SS Sunridges so a very good place to get the best in soft gear.

Nothing cheap about Fearnley gear lad, but you are right about Lilleys, taken over by the awful Sports World chain and turned into a tacky hoody clobber emporium.  Nipped in there for a look around last year when up to see Les Mis and I couldn't believe what they had done to the place - raped it raw they have.

Lilywhites sucks, absolutely don't bother with it. It only sells Slazenger stuff and has basically no choice whatsoever and none of the employees are in any way experts. It isn't really a proper sports shop nowadays, I tried to get a cricket ball there the other day and you can't even find a decent four-piece ball

PS bout british weather. When an Englishman tells you that it shouldn't be that bad, it sually means pretty cold so don't forget to bring a warm coat and complete water proof gear.
Yeah, lillywhites are awful. there was a time when you could get a top quality slaz for about 120quid but now...

You'd be mad to shop for any cricket kit in the High Street, London or anywhere. You are much better off at a club shop or use one of the internet shops - there are many that will ship worldwide now.

Thanks red_snapper. Was told that cricket equipment in the UK is generally expensive. Am interested in Slaz sxi, se, Hawks and Fusion custom made bats. Going for a lightweight bat (2lb 6oz-2lb 7oz) with a normal to high sweet spot. Budget around 100 pounds. Any suggestions guys?

GM Purist fits the bill, though they start at that weight and can rise to 2lb 9.

The Newbery Uzi C6+ goes down as low as about 2'5 but still has masses of wood for striking power

VKS is in Ealing - West London
Lords Shop is in St John's Wood - NW London
Oval Shop - Kennington - South London (nearest to Albert Embankment)
Lilleywhites - Piccadilly Circus - Central London
Or go online to www.cricdirect.com which has a list of most of the online shops.

If your willing to drive 2 or 3 hours out of London, www.cricket-hockey.com have their warehouse near where I come from in the New Forest, I just got a new bat there, it's got loads of stock, literally hundreds of bats, and it's cheaper than anywhere i've seen, I paid £95 for a bat that sells for £120 or so some places

One good thing I got in Lilleywhites, Asics Gel 452's were £20.99

This was in the Nottingham branch, marked up as £34.99 but went through £14 less

Lillywhites is dirt cheap, there's no doubt about that, but if you're shopping properly for serious sporting equiptment you don't want to substitute a decent range of choices for cost do you?

Well in my case I knew I was going to get the Gel 452's as I'd tryed them on at Owzat Cricket the week before. They were £60 so I had to wait a bit, just by chance I went into Lillywhites and there they were at £34.99. You should have seen my face when it said £20.99!!! I saved £40, not all the stuff in there is ever so crap.

lillywhites do sell decentish cricket balls but they are under the counter and you have to get in a never-ending queue to see.
They only sell old slazengers so useless for bats but pads and gloves are good
