After Dhoni's exploits against pakistan ,,, I feel this thread is required.

Dhoni is a rare natural talent ,,,after one full year in International circuit ,,, keeping an average above 52+ ,, and strike rate more than 107+ is no joke.

He seems to hit SIX's and FOUR's at will like NONE in world circket. [don't compare any flukes here with Dhoni]

Some people might say he has to prove in faster pitches of Aus,NZ,WI and Eng etc.-well let him get an opportunity first.

Anyways he average 50+ in Zimbabwe ....

After all this ,,, I would like to get the comment on ,,,, Is Dhoni approaching his Idol --> Gilchrist ?

Pls dont bring any other sick underperforming wicketkeeper into this thread.

AK its true ,, that he has performed on Sub-continent pitches throught ,, but lone opportunity in Zim ,, he averaged 50+ is a nice sign ,, but the opponents were Zim and NZ....!

I do not have any doubts of Dhoni performing in Faster pitches against Aus , Eng and NZ in their own pitches ,,,!

Observe ,, he dosent miss too many in sub-continent ,,even when other are bit circumspect ,, it just means he is upto any challenge.

Just pray that the success does not go to his head ,,, god bless him..!

Gilchrist is head and shoulders above Dhoni. Perhaps in 10 years or so but i know i'd pick Gilly ahead of Dhoni. Also Gilly is a reliable keeper.

All i can say is at the moment Dhoni is the most exiting player in the world to watch ,,, esp in batting.

lets see if he can keep it up...KP has been struggling since his 100s in south africa so perhaps Dhoni might struggle!

no i'm comparing the two....both started off well in ODIs and tests. KP struggled in pakistan and currently...lots of 20s etc. Lets see Dhoni play in a non-asian country and see how he can handle the pitches (e.g. Australia and England)

he could be, supposedly, like Afridi who apparently cannot bat away but that is untrue as Majestic Khan showed us his stats when playing away.

Dhoni got some way to go still...ahead of him in the keeping section would be Gilly, Akmal, McCullum, Sangakarra, Boucher (probably)- not in a particular order.

One thing is, at the moment, he has a promising future.

By the way why ganguly is still there, probably his exit has changed fortunes for India, so he is very valuable not playing for India!

come on ,,, you think he can't score on foreign pitches ,,,,, well pitches dont matter to Dhoni ,,, he is just an awsome hitter ever produced in World cricket ....

No surface or bowler matter to him ,,, and no ground is big enough for him .......he is a natual talent + Hard working individual that makes him one of the best in bussiness ......

He averaged more than 50 in Zim pitches ,,what more u want ,,,,,!

I know ,, the only way for all Dhoni haters is to say "Let him score the same in Foreign pitches" .

If you know the circketing history ,, a player who is consisten enough  in Subcontinent pitches plays in foreign pitches also....

Its the consistency that matters ,,,,, I agree there are some ppl like afridi ,,, who play on subcontinent pitches ,, but he is inconsistent in sub continent pitches also .... such players fail ,,, but not the players like Dhoni.

I don't even care if Dhoni does well outside of the sub-continent because he's not even a proper batsman.
Regulation without integration leads to suicide.
