this topic had once come up somewhere and pathan was said that he could be better than dhoni. i am not sure who is better.

let me give reasons why each one is better. pathan is better because
1. he has played well when he or india r under pressure. 2. dhoni has been pushed downthe order sometimes when india r under pressure. 3. dhoni was pushed below pathan twice against south africa. 4. dhoni has made his high scores when india r in a gud position or when dravid or tendulkar is his partner dhoni is better because 1. he is a full-fleged batsman. 2. he has made many very high scores. 3. pathan is better bowler than a batsman. |

this says that pathan is a better batsmen. these points say that. but dhoni is still fresh and new. maybe he will become better laer. he has a gud average.

when the team is under pressure pathan is slightly better. i mentioned that dhoni maked his high scores mostly when dravid or tendulkar r there. every player in the indian team plays better than htan they normally do when dravid or tendulkar r tere. except for yuvraj and sehwag.

This is sort of a tough one for me to decide. I will go with Pathan since he is good in bowling and in batting. Dhoni is a good batsman but not a good keeper.

I wil agree with Saad. Dhoni in my view is a slightly better batsman if
he bats at the top of the order but that doesnt mean Pathan cannot
bat.Bear in mind that Dhoni's average is only high because he has made
two very high scores,148 vs Pakistan and 183* vs Sri Lanka. Apart from
that Dhoni's batting has been quite ordinary. Pathan's bowling is
excellent and I think he is probably the best pace bowler India have
had in recent times. As for Dhoni's keeping... it is no where near as
good as Pathan's bowling.

I will go with Pathan.......Dhoni is good too but I think Pathan being an allrounder will probably have more to offer a team. I think that all wicket keepers should be able to bat so if Dhoni is performing with the bat that is great....and honestly he has been doing that very good.....but you see Pathan.....is soo good with the ball and he also can bat so well and so high up the order being a specialist bowler and all may probably make him a specialist batsman as well.....so my choice is Pathan.

I admit that Pathan is better but Dhoni has also performed great lately. He has been in great form with the bat and I feel it is rubbing off on his keeping as well. He is more confident now. He is a very exciting batsman.

There is no doubt that Dhoni is better with the bat - Pathan, at least not yet, is not capable of scoring 183* off 142 balls . He is however very solid and extemely consistent with bat. Obviously Pathan brings an extra dimension with his world class bowling. Pathan is the more valuable player but both Dhoni and Pathan have really invigorated this Indian side with a fresh lease of life.

i'd go with Pathan because he is India's strike seamer and Dhoni odesnt bowl(although i've seen hime once or something) , Dhoni is not a great keeper and you can send Pathan in any posotion in the order.

well both of them r very imp. players for the indian team. dhoni is an excellent w.k batsman and india needed a player like him. he is also a big hitter and we lacked such player for years. in the slog overs we weren't able to score much but now the scenario has changed due to pathan and dhoni. pathan is also batting well and his first spell is a treat to watch. dhoni is also improving his keeping.
