I would go with ponting because of his great form and aggresion.but darvi is good too.He has playd many match winning knocks. But it is quite difficult to compare the two.

I really like Ponting, and I find Dravid boring in test games, he just defends until he sees a bad ball, when he promptly skies it and gets caught. Ponting on the other hand is in brilliant form.

Test cricket is about punishing the bad ball and Dravid does that admirably. One thing Dravid doesn't do is go the ariel route - if he , as you say , skies it and gets caught , then why is his average so high?

He has the highest average in test cricket out of the current players with 58 ponting also averaging 58.
Check out my blog http://crictopia.blogspot.com/ pretty bad though...

Averages for the players change day by day AK.

Although I am a fan of Rahul I have to admit that Ponting is ahead of him at the moment

These are the best two modern day batsmen.  Tendulkar & Lara have faded, Kallis overrated (he has two scoring shots thats it).  But if I was captain of a tes team chasing 320 on the last day to win I want R.Ponting batting for me.  Likewise if we are 1 for 20 chasing 280 in an ODI POnting gets my vote again. He is a big game player.

With the likes of Sehwag and Dhoni in there he does not need to rake the ariel route but if its needed he can hit a few sixes as well

Yup I agree with you. Dravid was the guy who made 50 of just 22 balls wth 3 sixes. Ponting can surely do that but so can Dravid. Its just that he doesn't need and doesn't want to until the situation demands and he has a way for doing thing with just one or two sixes. Ponting was ahead of him this year uptil now. Afterwards I don't know what'll happen.

Plus Dravid is the only player to have already made 1000 Test runs this year.
