there clearly the 2 best batsman going around i think both are under alot of pressure because everyone expects tthem to make big scores cause there the captains or they've just come off scoring a century

That's a fair point matey!! Good on ya for saying that. But at the moment no one is bettering Ponting.
The best batsmen in the world on form are as follows: -
There are also a few others in brillaint form too..HUSSEY! for instance. Gibbs hasn't been too bad either nor has Sanga. Edited by MiNiWaRnEy |

None of them should be there as they are both not being consistent. They might be in good form, but Punter and Dravid are way higher than them. Coming back to the topic, Ponting is in better form right now.

I put Lara there because Lara has not been as good as he can be lately, but he has been playing pretty well, particularly compared to Sachin.

Yeah for sure..he is a brilliant batsmen but in big games and in big series he is somewhat disappointing... 248* vs Bang is ominous..I mean his hoghest score is vs Bang and not until 2004 vs Aust ( in a slow, defensive, leg side dominated innings on a flat track vs a second string AUst attack) he got a 200.. LAra's first ton was 280!!

Ponting for me in both forms of the game. A joy to watch and a pleasure that we can say we lived through the eras of Ricky

Sats wise they are both almost same. In tests Dravid has more runs and in ODI's too Dravid has more runs. But the ODI thing is because Dravid has played more ODI's. Otherwise Ponting has made those runs faster. So practically they are equal. Dravid better in Tests and Ponting better in ODI's. But form wise currently I would go for Ponting.

Ponting has every shot in the book and has lots of experience and he's only around 30 I haven't heard much of Dravid making century's recently Every 3rd innings Ponting makes a 100, he doesn't just get 50s anymore he gets 100's |

Absolutley no question. Ponting wins hands downs, & you can include Lara, Tendulkar & Kallis in that also. Ponting fantastic average (tests & ODI), at home & abroad, all the shots, is mentally strong, saves his team from trouble & finds time to captain of his team also. |

I'd say that they are both equal. Just as Dravid is important to india, so is Ponting to Australia. Ponting gets runs at a faster rate, but Dravid is of no less quality.

dravid is also a class act but ponting is an inch better than dravid at present. abt dravid not scoring 100's recently, the weather is the main thing to be blamed. u shouldn't expect a player to stay on at the crease in 40 degrees of temp. in india. he is scoring 50's and thats good. he is unable to carry his inn's because of hot and humid conditions in the subcontinent.

It's not about who's more attractive, its about who can play better. It doesnt matter how fast you score the runs, its how many runs you actaully get that counts.

Dravid is the steady middle order rock that likes batting for the whole day scoring massive totals. Ponting is not an aggressive batsman but likes to score runs quickly but sensibly however takes more risks. If U were playing to draw a match Dravid is better but if U were playing to win or hunt down a runchase Ponting is better. In my opinion Ponting is better!
