I was hoping for a career mode, or a better season mode then '05. But still looks like better gameplay and graphics.

Every other version has been garbage so there would need to be serious improvements to make it worth even considering

If the gameplay is better I will get it. '05 has too many glitches and the gameplay was awful -  although the graphics are better then RPC.

Pretty good graphics, I wish I was in UK so that I could buy this game.

What is the price of new games usually UK?

£29.99 - that's on Playstation 2 and PC, not sure if there will be an Xbox version.

I think it looks quite good, and as I haven't played a version since 2004, I hope to be quite impressed.

2005 was better in terms of graphics, but the gameplay was shocking... here is what are the positives and negatives of the new game ( I didn't write this)

- My mouse moved very slowly in some menus.
+ You can now change the team name and abreviation, not to mention player names, without having to download editors from fansites laugh.gif
+ There are special screen transitions from and to 'Ashes mode'. They're very nice to watch.
+ As you may have heard, there are 40 special Ashes challenges (putting you in the place of various players during various times of the 2005 Ashes, and forcing you to do as they did or better). They come with videos, special commentary, and really create a sense of (historical) immersion. Well done.
- Some of these Ashes challenges aren't in order. They do go test by test (you have to finish all challenges related to the 1st test, before going to the 2nd test), but sometimes it's a mess. Ex: 1st challenge with England: as the team collapsed 21/5, do what Pietersen did - a half century. Challenge 2: get a century from the starting partnership of Strauss and Trescothick. huh.gif I thought they had gone down quickly in the 1st challenge rolleyes.gif
+ you have all sorts of special modes, like playing the whole Ashes Tour or just the Ashes, 4 English county competitions, etc.
- Some of the menus have an unsatisfying nuance of brown. We need brighter colors, people!
- You know that selection menu, if you didn't want to pick a touring team automatically? You know, the one where you could scroll down a list of players, each with two horizontal lines, batting skill and bowling skill? Well now those lines are smaller. So it's harder to know who's good at what..
+ ... but in the same selection menu, players are listed by specialty, not by first letter of first name like in Cricket 2005. So, all opening batsmen, then all batsmen, then all-rounders, then fast bowlers, etc. This is far more helpful.
+ The batting is intuitive and a god-send.
- The pitching isn't. There's less control over where the cursor goes (from what I've read, it's tied in with player talent). Ok, but here's a serious problem for all who, like me, played Cricket 2005 for a very very long time: you use one key to select the delivery type, like say W on the keyboard, but no matter what you still have to use S to actually set the cursor in place. Very different from Cricket 2005, and very annoying.
+ unlike Cricket 2005, you cannot deliver bodyline-like balls, because you now get warned wink.gif
+ The ball bounces more, both when you are bowling and when you are batting. It's also faster (runs away from Flintoff)
+ just an impression, but the comp fielding seems to be smarter in adjusting to your shots...
- the leg glance still rules...
+ but other shots are much easier to play successfully
+ behind-batsman camera: has to be seen to be believed. It's even better than a first-person camera when it comes to putting you in the socks of the batsman. Trust me on this one.
+ remember how to go from one over to the other you went to a menu and had to use your mouse to select the 'next over'? It was a pain in the butt. Now the 'next over' button is keyed to your controller.
+ lots of information on screen, between deliveries, etc.
+ special commentary for some players when they reach milestones. Even Clarke the Australian smile.gif
+ the field looks... larger. It's more like real-life cricket, in Cricket 2005 it felt like a schoolyard. Now, there's room and space for all those shots cool.gif
+ overall the graphics looks better.
+ the bowling camera (called 'broadcast') is superb.
+ the comp may miss shots! or misplay them. Granted, I was playing as Windies against Pakistan in Barbados, on a very grassy pitch and I was struggling with my controller. But the computer looked really nice when trying to play the ball and doing not so well.
- Stadiums: if you're not English or Australian, your country got shafted. There's only *one* stadium for the Windies.. with the World Cup and all there should be at least 5. As for India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka... just like in Cricket 2005.
- Benaud still says the same things...
+ But Nicholas is new and it's nice to hear new stuff. He also delivers it pretty well.
- fake names. Many of them. Soon some people will put the real ones on the Internet. Watch this forum for updates cool.gif
+ new umpires.
+ several new teams (won't spoil the surprises, but all World Cup teams are there, including Bermuda and Ireland).

Games cost AU$100 here brand new RRP.. But usually the introductory offer for games is AU$85, from places like EB, K-MART, BIG W, Target, etc.

I didn't knew that other countries has targe, K-mart, and EB. Instead of spending more money, its better to buy it after a month or so. Or after a month, you could get used for way way less than that.

Target and Kmart are owned by ColesMyer Ltd. in Australia, which employs a mammoth 165K people. Electronics Boutiques is one of many commercial video game outlets.

I'd rather buy BLC07. The new designs have been much better than their fiorst one (I looked at the bright side, and still enjoy the game inspite of it being bad).

EB will have it at $100 and the rest don't have it in stock untill a week after its come out. JB hi-fi have good prices ($80 for new games). The only downside is that they run out of stock too early.

The game came out here on the 16th (Australia).. I have the PC version (I also own Ea Sports Cricket 2004, Cricket 2005 and Shane Warne Cricket '99) It is decent. The commentating my Richie Benaud is AWFUL (same as previous versions), while I don't like Mark Nicholas, he is a welcome addition, replacing Jim Maxwell. I quite like RPC '05 use of 5 commentators. Batting is much better in '07, while the bowling has been tweaked somewhat....
My biggest problem is that Asian and minnow international teams have fake player names!! The first time EA has done this (very disappointed).. Although you can edit names, and I fixed up all the Paki and Indian names, but I do not know like the Irish players (all I know is Joyce and O'Brien).

It is better then 2005, but for your money wait for the Codemasters cricket game (RPC or BLC 2007). I'm a fan of EA, but i would still wait.

I am a big fan of EA too, they are always improving all the sports. Its good that you can edit names, because without names its just not fun.

Hey Dhoni.. When I saw that the names were not licensed I was shocked, and disappointed. But luckily you can edit names, edit numbers and the commentators can still say Singh not Sajev (or what ever the fake name was).
The Ashes promos are awesome. They have 2005 Ashes scenarios, like "Guide Michael Clarke to a century in the first test." And if you are successful you unlock a movie and get to see a clip from the last Ashes.

As well as numerous tours that can be played,  world series/championship/knockout tournaments, all of the different Aust. and English domestics seasons and the 2005 nPower and 2006/07 3 mobile Ashes series' can be played.

Friendly matches can also be played, e.g. Australia A versus Bermuda.

The batting is too easy. Even on the hardest setting, you can flick practically anything off your pads. You can consistently get 10 runs an over just doing it repeatedly. I think the problem is that the computer generally bowls too full.
It's a long way to the shop, if you want a sausage roll.

Or maybe thats how the game is made, Roscoe.

I currently have EA games 2005, and its graphics are the best as in worst way. All most everything has green color and has MISSING TEXTURE written on it. But the most important parts are visible. I think its because of memory.
If anybody want to see them, I'll post the screenshots.

That's your graphics card and ram, not the game... I have the game and it does not do that.

Roscoe, the new Ea Cricket (2007) has more realistic batting, and if you have a controller you can use the joystick to bat..which is like Tiger Woods Golf, and it is really good. In cricket 2007 they bowl a lot more shorter balls no (but only two bouncers in tests, and one in odi can be bowled) but they bowl on a length.

If you put the difficulty on the highest and you put on manual batting (you control front and backfoot strokes) then it gets harder..

I know that its because of RAM, but I still have fun.

So Miniwarney, Do you think people should go buy EA Cricket 2007?
