No surprises as Germany absoluety hammered England in the worldcup, Germany was sublime and by far more superior than England.

The Only things English fans can gather ecstacy from is that their cricket team are giving the superb aussie team a thumpin blow in the series so far. Great batting and bowling from Strauss and Swann again.
England almost pulled off a Winless Windies special at the end, horrible collaspe

Watch a finish to the game, unbelieveable!  Douggie and Tait was superb!  Aussies missed out on a decent pitch it has to be said.  Congrats to Old Trafford, just like Barbados and Brisbane, the pitch is fantastic.

Terrific game that terrific, it was so good that even Ricky Ponting said "That's the beauty of our 50 over game..." unbelievable come back by Australia but ENG held their nerve to win the game and the series 3-0 with 2 to go.

So while FIFA 2010 has disappointed it's ENG's national game that has brought smiles on the faces of the englishmen and then there is Andy Murray who might create history in a few days time.

My prediction of 4-1 looks conservative !!   A wobble in the last game , but they got there in the end. The first two matches were walks in the park - I'd like to see England bat first just to see what kind of score they can put on the board.
As for comments on that other sport - who cares !

I'm sick of watching Federer win BFM, Anyone but Fedex or Nadal!

Anyways sorry for deviating from the topic there, I think ENG have found a very good ODI team and these are good signs ahead of the 2011 WC. If they can have players like KP and Morgan in their middle order they'll be winning a lot many games than before.

Yes Sam they have a very good team but the problem is KP still struggles against good spinners and Morgan even when he is inform sometimes struggles against good fast bowlers Eng might struggle against Pak in coming series.

Rohit Sharma - What the world has seen is gear 1, gear speed 2,3,4,5,7,8,9 to be witnessed in IPL only.

Yes, It certainly won't be easy for England that's for sure. I think Pakistani bowlers will like bowling in English conditions which normally suit swing bowling. Asif looks very ordinary when conditions don't suit his style of bowling, but when they do, he does not allow you to bat.

I haven't been on the forums for a while here, but I must say I'm extremely disappointed with how long it has taken for Australia to adjust to these conditions and what not. 3 poor batting performances in a row is not good enough, the bowling has been pretty good on games 2 and 3.

Game 4, after the series is lost, Ponting FINALLY makes runs , missing out on a 100 and poor Clarke who has looked in wonderful nick has made 99*, unlucky not to get 3 figures. Harris pulls his 3rd 5wi, can you believe it!? And his first two wickets were registered at close to 150kph. Finally, a good effort from the Aussies. 3-2 will be a respectable result considering they're playing away from home , after a long time apart.

Harris' figures in ODI cricket. The Michael Hussey of fast bowling it looks like!

15 innings - 3 5wicket hauls. Amazing stuff. Strike Rate indicate he takes 3 wickets on average per 10 over allotment. Great start for him, he's come a long way.
I said earlier that Tait should have been included, you need that firepower, and it has worked he has been very, very handy. Harris has also looked really quick. So that firepower does work. Good to see that Australia has a long list of very competent fast men.

Even after doing so well he might still find himself out of the side when everyone is fit.

I'd like to see him , alongside Bollinger and Johnson in the world cup. It would even be possible to play a 4th out and out pace bowler, like Tait or Siddle because Steven Smith could most certainly bat up the order and do the spin duties. I guess that would mean less burden on Watson.

Zuhair is correct, Smith won't find it that easy in the sub-continent but the Aussies do bat quite well in the sub-continent though so their batting shouldn't be a worry.

And Harris is a fine bowler, hits excellent areas and is a strong guy.

I think both Hauritz and Smith should play in the world cup.
My Lineup for World cup will be:

Watson
Haddin
Ponting
Clarke
White
M.Hussey
Smith
Hauritz
Johnson
Tait
Lee/Bollinger/Harris/Siddle

It's hard picking an Aussie pace attack if all guys are fit.  Johnson will play for sure alongside Tait but the next spot is hard to decide because Douggie and Harris are in form.  If Lee only comes back to his best, it becomes even harder.  Plus you have the likes of Siddle and McKay backing up as well.

Very good effort by the Aussies. Lovely series I must say, we saw both teams play really well. Could have been 3-2 the other way had Australia's fightback in game 3 worked. So I would say the series was quite balanced, despite the fact that Australia is the higher ranked team - so top effort from England.
Tait was sublime, delivering at 100mph. Should be seeing him at the World Cup, he's definitely the Usain Bolt of cricket.

England became complecent once they won the series. They need to keep the hunger alive and should not let foot off the pedal once the series is won.

Seen India do that few times, once they win the series they take the remaining games lightly.

I was spot on with my scoreline prediction. Smile

I don't think if ENG were complacent in the last two games, you cannot beat AUS 5-0 they are too good a team to lose like that. Anyways, It was a very good series overall and the better team won.

Really? so you still think Aussies were lucky to win the last 2 matches?
Please just remind me when was the last time India were 3 up in a 5 match series.

Well done mate great prediction. I agree better team won but England still have alot of problem with the team selection there must be a better player than Bresnan in the England.

I am bit surprised with 3-2 scoreline, it had to be 4-1. Anyway maybe some other good team will soon roit Aussie one day side shortly. They are on downside for sure.

Tait is a wonderful bowler, provided he gets his radar right each and everytime. If he looses it, it s bonus of 5 wides to opponents. I'm damn sure that he can't keep his line and length right in longer version or for consistent period of time. He breaks down soon, both mentally and emotionally after 1 bad match, or one good batsman hits him , he looses it for entire series.

I just hope he gets his radar right against Pakistan and then looses it compeltely against others Smile.

I feel Ricky Ponting is going to  lose his captaincy by this year end, I see England winning Ashes for sure down under this time. It will be 3-0 in favour of English.

They will win the first three and draw the last two.

Raj's got it - we're going to bring 10 clones of Collingwood and bat for all ten days once 3-0 up.
