Usually i wouldn't make a new thread of it but this guy seems to be a one man wrecking crew.

Not only has he now cracked the quickest ever Test 50 he now has just scored his 7000th run in Test cricket and also equalled the all time record for the most centuries by a South African, 21 which levels with Gary Kirsten.

He has been in some truly remarkable form and is now averaging just under 56. I think he may well finish up as the highest averaging South African player ever if he keeps going at the rate he is and is already the leading run scorer and century getter.

A truly great cricketer and i'm sure there will be feats to follow soon including taking the outright lead as far as centuries scored by his nationality go and also i soon expect him to get that first double ton of his.

He is phenomenol JAL and is a worshipped here in Cape Town. I think we're going to see a lot less of him bowling pretty soon , he can't carry the innings and continue to send down 20 overs of medium quick when the opposition go into bat.

He could well end up averaging over 60 , which is where Graeme Pollock finished after his 23 tests. Having seen 'em both I have to say that as good as Kallis is , Pollock was just phenomenal - he literally tore attacks apart. The quicks , tweakers and medium pacers all got the treatment - I've not seen many better.....

It depends though Inducker. Could Pollock have kept on going at the rate he was for as long as Kallis has? Pollock scored a couple of thousand where as Kallis has already scored 7000 runs and is still going strong. they're just different types of players that's all.

Pollock was different class JAL!! In answer to your question , Pollock scored a 100 in his last ever match against Kim Hughes's Aussies at the age of 44 ! That side had Hogg , Rackeman , Alderman and Hohns and the old fella still clopped 'em all over St George's Park!

Yeah i know i've since seen the match and yeah looking at their first class records it does seem as if Pollock was in a different league. Test career wise Kallis actually still has a long way to go. Even though he is South Africa's highest ever run totaller and also has scored the joint most net total of centuries he still has a lower average than Pollock and is yet to score a double ton however now with him having the record of the quickest Test 50 and also he has scored a century in 5 straight Tests falling 30 runs short of Bradman's all time record it does show he has the ability to break these records, even if it at his own somewhat mundane pace.

kallis has now surpassed Gary Kirsten with his knock in the fourth Test agains the Windies to take him to the top of the list of total runs scored in Tests for South Africa. Yet another record going his way...

kallis is indeed a brilliant player. he is probably the best cricketer south africa has ever had since graeme pollock.he has scored the most centuries and runs for south africa and his batting average is in the mid fifties. i think he and brian lara are probably the two best players in the world at the moment

Kallis should be as good a bowler as Flintoff but isn't. Why?

We need him to be able to do both. We have such a toothless attack at the moment. Pollock is not the same strike bowler he used to be and his gentle medium pacers hardly build enough pressure at the other end anymore. We need a good back up for Ntini and no one else is world class. We need a swing bowler and Kallis has to be the man.

Graeme Pollock may or may not have been a superior batsman to Kallis, but what we do know of Kallis is that he is one of the greatest all-rounders ever.
Nearly 200 Test wickets @ 31 (Sobers 230 @ 34, Botham 383 @ 29)
Nearly 8000 Test runs @ 56 (Sobers 8000 @ 57, Botham 5000 @ 34)
Nearly 200 ODI wickets @ 31 (Cairns 200 @ 31)
Nearly 8000 ODI runs @ 45 (Tendulkar 13000 @ 44)

Phenomenal, aren't they? I do not wish to compare Kallis with Graeme Pollock because the latter did not get the chance to have a full career. Let us laud Kallis and rightly compare him to all the great all-rounders.
JH Kallis is the only player in history to have 8000 runs, 200 wickets and 100 catches in BOTH forms of the game. Only Sobers (tests) and Jayasuriya (one dayers) have achieved half that feat.

Yep , Kallis has some record ! I saw him interviewed a few weeks ago and he's very keen to get his bowling back on track. In recent years he seemed to lose his natural away swing to the right handers , but he says it's coming out well just now , so let's see what happens in Australia !

I dunno if you guys around the world know who is girlfriend is , it's Cindy Nel , ex-Miss SA. Not only is he a great cricketer , but he has great taste in women too!
