The Premier League's claim to be the best in the world was brought into sharp focus tonight. Man Utd didn't really do a whole lot wrong, they were just beaten by a truly exceptional side - one which I was really pleased to see didn't resort to their diving and rolling around tactics, so they won like true champions. Lining up to applaud Utd up the steps was a touch of pure class as well, to say nothing of both the club captain and team captain on the night stepping aside to let Abidal lift the cup, that was brilliant.

Man Utd shouldn't feel hard done by. They were outwitted by the best team and the best player on the planet . Both head and shoulders ahead of the rest. Many see them as among the best ever to have played the game. Truly a privilege to watch em play. All Messi's got missing from his CV is the WC. At this rate shouldn't be out of reach.

It just had to be Barca!!! Pure class and magic from the two mid fielders - I dare say Iniesta and Xavi are the best on the middle of the pitch in the world. There was no way MANU was going to win it - but that they only had one shot at goal ( on which they scored) was truly remarkable - and shows the gulf between the English and Spanish standards. i have not an iota of doubt, had MNAU been playing in the current La Liga - it would secure a distant third position.

That was a master class , United were blown away. Just how many trophies this Barcelona side can win can't be estimated - they are head and shoulders above all other sides. Has there been a better side than this one in the history of the game ? The Real Madrid side that won 5 European Cups with Di Stefano and Puskas was wonderful , but this Barca side has 11 class acts and in Messi , Iniesta and Xavi three of the best players ever to play the game.
Simply brilliant. |

Zuhair, I wouldn't say the gulf between the spanish and English standards - in all fairness, Barca is just head and shoulders above all football sides at the moment. Man Utd could have beaten other sides thrown to them whether its the Italian, German or 2nd team in Spain. Real Madrid side these days is nothing compare to what they had in the earlier parts of the last decade! They have a magician in Christiano Ronaldo and don't feed him with the ball like Man Utd use to do and look how many goals he's scored, even after missing a few games with injury!

Cristiano Ronaldo is an awesome player. Maybe even the second best. But he always fails in the Big games. Thats why Madrid can't get the better of Barca. They depend too much on him,and they've got a negative minded coach. I think if Kaka's back to full fitness and can regain his magic of old he could be a bigger player for them , may not score as much but can create more impact. Madrid could be well in with a huge shout if Kaka can regain his touch.

Madrid seems to have a knock of killing good players. Beckham's game went downhill, Luis Ronaldo got overweight and kaka doesn't even seem like a player who showed so much skills with AC Milan. It's a wonder Christiano Ronaldo is still scoring goals!

Scoring goals has never been Madrid's problem SW - it's the countless ones that go in at the other end that cause the problems!

City prevail 1-0 in Manchester Darby....... and
Noisy Neighbours are back to the top on a massive goal difference.Saw the match live late night yesterday, someone lost his cool at the touchline.Just two more victories for City please, but they have one tougher opponent in Newcastle(away)... QPR(at home) should be easy, while UTD face relatively easier draws against Swansea(at home) and Sunderland(away). All looks perfectly set for City to lift the Cup in front of home crowds .Edited by MalhotraRaj84 - 01 May 2012 at 6:29am |
