So after England's very successful tour of Bangladesh it's time to move onto the World Cup in this story, I promised new features and here are a list of the things you can look forward to in this story:

  • Full news bulletins from the goings on in the World Cup.
  • Regular interviews with players and coaches as they reveal some of the behind-the-scenes action from the Caribbean.
  • Proper reports from the toss and from the presentation.
  • Some lucky members can vote for things such as man of the match and man of the tournament.
  • Reports from other games as well as England matches.
  • Screenshots of great performances, not just scorecards.
  • Full match reports.

I'll be starting the story soon so please sit back, read, relax and enjoy and please give your views on this story, if people don't give their opinions on the story then I will discontinue it, I have already said that it's not encouraging for me writing a story when I think no-ones actually reading it.

Also if you want to be picked for various tasks and jobs to do with this story then please leave your name here.

England have been dealt a blow ahead of the Cricket World Cup when it was revealed that selector John Stevens (fictional name) has resigned his post, leaving a vacant position as an England selector. Vikram Solanki
Geraint Jones

John Crawley
Chris Read
Craig Spearman
Owais Shah
Darren Maddy
Chris Adams
Mark Ealham
Ashley Giles
Tim Bresnan

Ronnie Irani
Robert Croft
James Foster
Glen Chapple
Andrew caddi£k
Darren Gough
Michael Yardy
Shaun Udal
Rikki Clarke
Stuart Broad
Rob Key
Ed Joyce
Dominic Cork
Alex Wharf

I only had one application for the job of selector and so the new England selector will be announced later, good luck to applicants, I will be giving you until 9am tomorrow to enter.

EDIT - I do realise I could've given people longer so I'm extending the time limit in which you have to enter for the chance to become an England selector.

England Selector Announced
Stephen D'Albiac has stunned the cricketing world by naming MP12 as a new selector for England. MP12, who has no previous professional or selection experience, won the right to become a selector after winning a competition to get the job.

Stephen D'Albiac had this to say on the matter:
'We don't just want to give the top candidates a job, but we also wanted people who had no experience professionally but were capable of doing the job to have a chance to take a crack at a cricketing career, and MP12 best suited that role. I wish him luck with the job and I look very much forward to working with him.

England Announce Provisional Squad
England have today announced a provisional 30-man squad for the 2007 World Cup in the West Indies. England announced their squad just on time after coach Stephen D'Albiac and selectors David Graveney and MP12 spent a good few hours in the ECB headquarters deliberating and discussing over which 30 players would be picked.

This of course is not the final squad, as the players will have to be whittled down into an 18-man squad which will go to the Caribbean next month. The squad included some surprise inclusions, including Matthew Hoggard, Robert Key, Chris Tremlett and Rikki Clarke. Chris Read has also been announced as one of 3 potential wicket-keepers.

The captaincy has once again been given to Warwickshire's Ian Bell for the one-day game, with Andrew Strauss named as his deputy once more. There have also been some surprise ommisions from the squad, with players like Scott Newman and Liam Plunkett not being selected, and the likes of Will Jefferson and Tim Bresnan being selected ahead of them, 19-year old Craig Kieswetter has also been sensationally included as a wicket-keeper ahead of Matt Prior.

Here is the provisional 30-man squad:
Batsmen: Ian Bell (c), Andrew Strauss, Nick Compton, Ed Joyce, Robert Key, Michael Yardy, Will Jefferson, James Benning, Neil Dexter, Benjamin Hutton, Ravinder Bopara, Mal Loye, Owais Shah

Wicket-Keepers: Steven Davies, Chris Read, Craig Kieswetter

All-Rounders: Rikki Clarke, Jamie Dalrymple, Timothy Bresnan, Alex Loudon, Ian Blackwell

Bowlers: Jon Lewis, Chris Tremlett, Sajid Mahmood, James Anderson, Monty Panesar, Matthew Hoggard, Michael Munday, Adil Rashid, James Kirtley
