Andrew Flintoff played his 1st game since his return from South Africa and the operation on his troublesome ankle spur. Playing for a Lancashire XI against Stuart Law's other lancashire XI he made a rapidfire 119 off only 99 balls. Starting slowly with three successive maidens he then took to the bowling and amazed the 20-odd spectators lucky enough to see him clear the ropes 7 times.

He didn't bowl , field or run (Mike Watkinson's words!) - he just wanted some competitive cricket asap.

Well done Freddy - July 21st can't come soon enough!!

Good knock but his phsician again came out yesterday and said that its too soon for him to be playing again and that if he overdoes he may re-injure his ankle. If he's picked to play in the series against Bangladesh then he may well do himself more damage than good.

There was an announcement recently that he wouldn't play in the two Tests against Bangladesh. This will help the selectors anyway as they have Bell, Pietersen, Key and others competing for middle-order slots. Freddie will be taking it pretty easy in county cricket for the next month or so.

Lancashire's season starts next Friday doesn't it? It gives him about 3 months before the Ashes start to play a fair bit of cricket.

God you're gonna have to eat your words come the end of Ausgust Inducker!

Anyway who do you think McGrath's 500th victim will be?

I've bet on it being Trescothic. Strauss seems the man in form and god knows who the number 3 is so you would expect Trescothic to be the likely cadidate.

Victim huh? Now a decent Englishman would be looking for a 500th wicket whereas a crook Aussie takes a victim!!

But seriously , I suppose Trescothick is as likely as anyone - probably at The Oval !

Yeah right! Dream on! He'll get his 500th in the first innings of the first Test. The odds for him not to pick it up in the first Test are 20/1 incredibly! Shows how much even the bookmakers know of his immenent feat being reached.

By the way don't forget those crooks used to be Englishmen at one point!

Blimey mate!!! Go put a ton on for me at those odds and I'll have one of my London pals go trip him on his way back to his mark before the 1st ball!! Geez - easy money huh - I think I've just stumbled on a way of getting rich quick AND the lads winning back the Ashes !!

I actually put some on just for the fun of it as it didn't say that the bet becomes null and void of McGrath doesn't play!
