Fusion Cricket Bat -The Definitive Review

Here is my definitive review of this highly regarded cricket bat. After reading all the hype and good reviews, I decided myself to buy one and test it out. After chatting with Bill, I decided to order the second from the top (of the range) blue label range and it arrived on Friday. Postage took abt 7 days - incredibly quick. BTW, these bats are made by a company called Fusion Sports and the owner is Bill and James Cornford.

The Service: Fusion were polite, friendly and helpful. No fault here alto they were slow in responding to some emails. (their business is probably too brisk) Everything else was as per my specifications - the extratec sheeting was a bonus that I didnt ask for. Ordered a 2lb 6oz bat but the weight came in at 2lb 9.5oz with the double grips and extratec.

The Look: The bat has a massive centre with thick edges and bowed profile. The edges are not as thick at the ends. The sweet spot is extended and enlarged. My blue label had about 9 grains of the finest willow alto the willow was unbleached and it had a whitish look to it. The Impala Redback is probably the closest match in terms of profile. The bat is finished in some striking Fusion stickers with holographic looks. A double grip was adhered to the oval handle.

The performance: After knocking it in on the weekend - spent all weekend doing it ), I took it to the nets Monday evening. The pickup was good alto I expected it to be lighter. The bat has a very nice ping. Spent abt an 1hr in nets and I can surmise that is a powerful bat. It took me a while to find the middle as I'm not used to heavy bats. The bat packs power and oozes quality. Got a match next weekend and I shall unleash this beast on unsuspecting bowlers then.

The verdict: Is this the best bat I've ever owned/used? Probably not, but it would be in the top 5. However it certainly is the most powerful bat I have ever wielded. It is easily more powerful than the GN Predator or Kooka Beast or Impala Redback.

The cost: Expect to pay over $300 AUD for this bat. Ask Bill as the cost of each custom bat does vary. For a custom made bat it is probably very good value for money.

Verdict: Great bat with striking graphics and powerful performance. "With great power, comes great responsibility". Hopefully that will convert to big scores for me - unleashing it on unsuspecting bowlers this weekend.

   i thinks you know who i am talking about, we at Fusion try to be fair and helpfull to all you guys,it would be nice if you could keep your personal remarks to PMs or e-mails ,it does nobody any good at all to slang in public,and with our brand name caught in the middle, is not fair .

Firstly, i didnt think my simple and unbiased review would stir up a huge verbal fight.

Secondly, i think screaming cat is a slang for Slazenger. Correct me if I'm wrong. (i've never heard of a screaming cat bat in Oz)

Finally, my Fusion is awesome. Played a match on the weekend and the opposition has been put on notice. The middle is slightly higher than normal. Everytime I found the middle it was gone to the boundary or close to it. Now all I need is more practice so I can find the middle everytime.
