This is generally for the younger people of this forun. I would like to know if any of you would be going into a fture invloving cricket as a career. This involves County,International,U-19. But not school or minor club cricket.

Thanks,

AK , that statement tells me that you're not good enough! You're old enough already to have been taken into a coaching school if you have the talent. That that hasn't happened means you're going to have to enjoy your cricket like the vast majority of us - on the village green.
Mental disintegration works for me !!

It's alright I'm sure you are just as happy without playing cricket for a team. Ok I'll arise a new question for the older people.. would you like your kids to get into cricket ahhh see I'm very clever

Now THAT is a good question!

I have two sons, aged 8 and 6 and I've been gradually getting them interested in the games - first by getting them season tickets for Leics, then by having them custom bats made by one of my suppliers. The eldest now goes to two cricket clubs where he gets some basic coaching a few games and whilst he needs a lot of work his has potential I think. He bats left handed and has a good eye for sure although in time he'll need to learn to stop playing every shot to leg, but that'll come with time.

yeah quite true mate...it just frustrates me seeing the same drag around the leg shot being played to every ball! I am trying to help him now by telling him before I bowl it where the bal will be and where he should play it and that occasionally helps....but he's young and there is plenty of time

I play for a minor county age group and 3 years ago entered into an academy to prepare me for a career in cricket but I might have to give it up because I seem to be getting worse every year. I don't have the strength to make really big scores with the bat.
Minor counties suck and then you play for one

its very tough to break into the national side in india. its almost impossible as millions play cricket at gully level, thousands at domestic level and only 11 at the international level. if u want to be a cricketer in india u have to be extraordinary and wid that u should have some luck and political contacts.
sorry guys i don't have pc in my hostel so i can't use the net very often.

I'm going to play State for NSW and get to the International scene and play for Australia.

What age do you think would be too late to start taking cricket seriously enough to get into the internal squad
