And one South African (Andre Botha). Also keep an eye on Ryan ten Doeschate playing for Netherlands, another SA lad who should never have been allowed to go.

South Africa 3-1-- 3 overs

Also Ryan Watson is taking over the Scot captaincy after Craig Wright goes back to Scotland.

Come on Jacques.  Get a nice hundred for my fantasy team.  Wouldnt hurt if he followed that up with a 5-wicket haul.

He was clearly going for it after 3 (if not 2) and the bowler lost the plot with a full toss and two rank long hops

Thank you Mr. Kallis.  I wont be greedy now.  Dont want five wickets.  Three will do.

Not great quality, but here is what Gibbs had to say after his six sixes:

Splendid splendid performance by SA, what a way to start their campain for the world cup, they certainly bettered what ausies achieved the other day. Now with that start they should feel like a very well oiled unit, almost everyone featured in that match, warning signs for Ausies for the coming match!
so far so good!

Yeah I think our bowlers still need a work out though...and Kemp and Prince still need to get some time in the middle....

But on the whole it was a good performance, and i think the game against AUS is going to be won by the team who bats better on the day.

Kallis getting runs early will help their chances and I am wrapped to see Boucher start with a flurry but really, can either our win or the Protea's win be counted as much???????

Time in the middle yes but not much more.
Judge the player not by their stats, but by their opposition.

No. Against a minnows team it's not the win that is important, but how you win...

Against bigger teams it works the other way around.

Netheralands may be collapsing but they are the only team to hit McGrath at 4.71 runs an over.

Two predictable results with both big boys hardly breaking sweat. Gibbs' performance was terrific , he clears the ropes with ease - he's worth the entrance money alone. Encouraging stuff from Kallis , he's the heart of the batting line up and when he makes runs SA usually win. The fastest ever 50 at WC by Boucher too (21 balls) - there is great potency down the order for the South Africans - Saturday's match could be a good marker as to where the cup will end up.

This group is really building up to a cracker of a match between the top two nations. Both SA and Aus are trying hard to cause more carnage than the other team. At this rate, we may get to see another 400+ run chase between these two giants when they come face to face.

Aus has a dilemma though: Who do they remove to make way for Symmonds? Hodge, Watson or Clarke?
SA has a dilemma too, as Langeveldt and Hall are both working hard to keep their place, but Ntini wants his place back.

The way things look after the Netherlands game, I'd say keep Langers and Hall and drop Nel for Ntini. If not, Langers will go. Hall has been playing too well lately.

Nel appears to have cemented his place in the squad, but he really hasn't impressed much recently. I agree with you there, Hedonism. Langeveldt and Hall are working hard to keep their place. Take Nel off instead.

De Villiers also could be dropped and Hall can open with Smith. Given us a extra bowling option!
After all yesterday's sadness, I must say on a more positive note, it has been a pretty good WC so far!
I saw into the future - Ashes 2009 England 3 Australia 1!

De Villiers won't be dropped. Unless it's for another batsman like Bosman. (unlikely though) But to put Ntini in, they'll take out another bowler. De Villiers has too much ability to be pulled off, and one duck does not mean that he's out of form. Also, his fielding is too valuable to the team.

Does anyone else find it odd that south africa have won the toss and bowled?
Monkey see, Monkey do.
