I don't really remember that incident but I would like to see a repeat performance of it. Especially the part where Lara hits him around....I'd like to see Gayle do it too but Lara is just Lara.....LOL. It would be amazing to see him score tons of runs in his last world cup....

The only thing clarke will take into the world cup is the memory of being not considered first choice for world cup or ODI for Ausies, and expect not be in the starting line up of most matches. AUsies have their first choice bowlers in Macgrath, Tait, Bracken, and Jhonson, so probably wont go to be playing memeber's mindset. If they include him in a crucial match it would be either to replace an injured or resting player as he should and would not selected on merit!
so far so good!

My pick is that Tait will get real licks! Extra pace on those slow pitches - just what batsmen want!!

Tait has never performed in the role his team will be expecting this time around, and the pressure will matter a lot. To replace lee is not an easy task, lee has learnt his lessons the real hard way, but has perfected himself as one of the best odi bowler for his team. Macgrath or bracken hardly look like bowlers to provide break through in the middle overs, so Tait has to pitch in , and that in a mega event where the stakes are high is not easy and can make or break a career or two!

Making use of the new ball in the West Indies is very vital! After the shine goes, their is practically no more swing! Their is hardly any lateral movement back here so fast bowlers will have to put in the extra work!

THe most crucial part will be the second spells of almost all the bowlers, and bowlers who cant reverse swing, dont have a good slow ball, cant bowl 4/6 yorkers will struggle for sure. I think macgrath will have to be bowled within 25-30 overs, still ausies will find it hard to bowl at death.

Totally agree with you there mate! The pitches back here do have a bit for roughing up the ball and I saw pathan recently use the reverse swing to the end well. The meastros at it will be handy at the death if they get them on target like Vaas!

It's been a while since Vaas did something amazing so if he gets the ball in the right places this world cup then it would be something special.

To me Vaas would be the key to lankan success as he has to take responsibility with the new ball and in the end too, and he has the talent and the experience to prove the real factor for lankan win.

It might well be Maharoof rather than Vaas!! Hr reverses it and bowls just back of the length!! With the breeze behind him, he might turn out to be thier trump  card i feel

Maharoof is up and down stuff, gets 5 in a match next one smacked for 50 in 5 overs, this cup experience will weigh in gold, take my word mate, new comers will go for runs!

the Taits, Malingas, Bonds, Jerome Taylors will struggle more than genuine medium pacers. All these bowlers have a tendency to overpitch and they will go for runs. Whoever bowls back of length will get the  reward.

The ball gets rough and gets scuffed very early in windies consitions and with the breeze blowing, i go for Maharoof as he is one bowler who swings and likes to swing in the air more than off the pitch.

Incase you don't realise, Taylor will be playing at home! He won't struggle like the rest but he will go for runs still.

That's interesting because Taylor is supposed to be the windies strike bowler so I guess we are in even more trouble!!!LOL

The runs does matter A LOT spin because it's ODI cricket we are talking about.....every run counts....I think what he has to do is make a little deal with Lara if he is going to go for a lot of runs he has to learn how to bat  (I am sure Brian won't mind giving him a few pointers and teaching him a few techniques) so that he will be able to make up for the excessive runs that he gave away while bowling with the bat. LOL A couple of fours and who knows maybe even a six from him would be make all the west indians happy!

Who do you prefer as Opening pair for South Africa?

Smith and De Villiers or Smith and Bosman?

If Bosman can pick up a little more consistency, I'd rather see them drop Prince to make space for him. Then let him open with Smith and bat de Villiers at 5.

I am sacred about Tait. He seems to be the key figure to our team but he is unproven. What does Nathan Bracken need to do in order to be recognised as being present. Since his recall, Bracken has outdone all other Aussie bowlers in regards to economy rate, average and strike rate. When he is opening, he can swing it both ways and at the death, he bowls offies. he went for a few in NZ but he holds the key for our success. McGrath will have his good days but the ageless warrior is showing the signs of alot of cricket and while the heart and soul is willing, he is simply unable to perform as he used to. This being said he deserves to be there. Aussies will be there but on the back of people like Bracken, Hogg, White, Clarke. These four along with Gilly, Ponting and Hussey need to carry whoever makes up the remaining 4 places because they are going to be weaknesses.
Judge the player not by their stats, but by their opposition.

Not the Windies! England, Aussie etc were here. I am going to watch Aussie and England friday. Look out guys, I will be in the double decker stand - the bottom floor though. I will be the one going berserk when the English win! Wink
