My question is why wasnt the reserves given a chance even when the regulars didn't do well .

Bangladesh won the toss and decided to field first.
Good toss to win. Bangladesh made no change in the squad. Bermuda made only one change. Saleem Mukaddem comes in place of Malachi Jones. Match strat will be delayed due to rain. |

What?
I am bored of seeing Aus, SA, SL, NZ, WI, IND, PAK over and over again, Cricket needs new faces so I feel happy BD and Ireland are going through instead of Ind and pak |

You must be a proud lad Rifat! Yours boys have done their nation proud and they really surprised me! Rasel looks a fine lefty - impressed me with his ability to swing the ball back into the Righties and slant it away from them.

Bangladesh deserved the super eight spot after defeating India in the opener and they did it finally.
This win came as the Independence Day gift for Bangladesh (26 March is our Independence Day). :) Congratulations Tigers, You made us proud. |

Sri Lanka are leading the points table with an excellent NRR of +4.304 followed by Australia who is +1.660. Ireland is higher than South Africa and Bangladesh at the bottom of the table. This is because they have taken the run rates of the when each team played each other in their respected groups. Can't explain it properly but when you check out the table, you'll figure it out.

SpLendid work by tigers, well they deserved a chance in super 8's and one thing is sure no team can imagine taking them lightly now. They have the capability of upstaging their game just seeing a little chance anywhere.
I hope this turn around marks arrival of another team that can match the other established teams on a consistant level. I would be very much interested in the Ireland Bangladesh match!

Bangladesh see off the weakest side in the competition , but
not without a few jitters on the way. The weather is rather unpredictable
right now - lots of showers and stoppages which effects both batsmen
and bowlers. The wet ball negates some of the potency of the
spinners which will suit the likes of SA who don't really have one!
Bangladesh must enjoy the next phase and see if they have one more surprise in store for the spectators - don't expect two though! Edited by Sledger - 27 March 2007 at 6:27am |

Ironic that you should talk about the showers because it is actually dry season here in Trinidad!!!!!!!!! LOL. Anyway in Guyana it always rains so maybe it was not such a good idea to have super eight matches there. They should have had it in Trinidad instead!!!!!!!!! LOL. But I heard something about there being thunder storms predicted for Guyana so I don't know what's going to happen to that match tomorrow( God willing)!!

With Global warming now, the weather is completely changing. I remember a few years back, it use to be pretty dry at this time but the trees back here are still green. Last year, there were hardly any Hurricane although they predicted it to be the worst Hurricane season and Hurricanes hardly came. It's just unpredictable now!!!

Unpredictable SW? I asked you a few months ago , somewhere
on the forum about the kind of weather we could expect - you got it
hopelessly wrong!
Still , all this rain gives England a chance of sneaking into the semis with a few nailbiting D/L wins! ![]() |

That's exactly why I said it's unpredictable now. It rained as much in February as it did in some of the Hurricane months which is very unusual. The rain usually seizes in the caribbean by this time but it hasn't happened.
The weather is fine back here Daisy! Club cricket starts this saturday back here..... I hope it doesn't get rained out.

You see, they wanted to put the super 8 matches on the new venues so that's why Trinidad wasn't considered. Guyana is always a bad option for cricket but nonetheless, they have to get matches.
