Canada 199 off 50.....not bad. I expected a larger total after their start though, especially with Davison still to come. |

Kenya played very well, I have no clue why Davison didn't come in the 2nd power play and Billclif was sent instead which really slowed them down.

Yeah, true I read that he might open against New Zealand or England but Barnett is a solid openor so maybe moving Samad down is ok.

Probably thought Barnett is solid at the top of the order and they could save their best batsman until a little later??!!

Solid performance by Kenya , nicely paced chase with Tikolo showing his
great experience. The pitch looks ideally suited to New Zealand's
dibbley dobbley bowlers (Bond not being one of 'em!) - there is no pace
in it whatsoever!
To me that means Monty starts too , which I'm pleased about. Who misses out though , Anderson's break is his pinkie on his left hand , so he could play. There's little swing though , so he could be the one to miss out , Plunkett being the better batsman. I make NZ favourites now , a lifeless pitch is more suited to their attack and they know how to bat on them too. Pity , a seaming ,bouncy track would've been fun and I'm sure Bond agrees! |

Really impressive batting by Tikolo yesterday... I never knew Kenya had batsmen of that quality.
Then again, Canada never really had any bowlers that looked likely to trouble him. Edited by Mojo - 15 March 2007 at 7:20am |

Tikolo has been a quality player for 10-12 years now , he had a good WC in 2003 too.

I think it's about time I started noticing players from the non-test teams now... Potential is certainly being shown.

There's talent out there alright and Tikolo can take a lot of
credit for bringing along the promising kids in Kenya.

It's ashame he never played test cricket but even if he did he still can't single handedly win a test match against any of the nine test nations. I think Kenya are a very good chance of upsetting either New Zealand or England possibly even both. With players such as Thomas Odoyo, Peter Ongondo, Steve Tikolo & Tanmay Mishra if they all perform in a match then there a very good chance of winning.
Mathematically they can still make it without winning twice cause if Canada beat one of the teams and England or New Zealand win all there pool matches then all the other three will be 1 and 2.

Who is Canada gonna beat? The way they played yesterday, I think even my old school team would've beaten them.

AK , get a grip lad , Canada couldn't beat eggs!! Kenya could
spring an upset , but only if they play a day/nighter during a powercut.

NZ and England will both beat Kenya, they have both never lost to Kenya!
I am not counting wins by default like in the 2003WC. Let me rephrase:"NZ and England will both beat Kenya, should there be no defaults!
John Davidson looked far from the player he was in 2003!

I saw into the future - Ashes 2009 England 3 Australia 1!

Its a no-brainer today. The most consistent team in world cups of yore to beat far-flung southern hemispheric colony. Just wanted to add, if it hadn't been for the Zimbabwe thing in 2003, England would have probably won the WC last time as well.
England all the way...Yeah!!! Edited by Siddi - 16 March 2007 at 5:57am |
