Let's assume he can bow. Though he is batting better at the moment, what's more important for the NZ side? Our bowling is currently weaker so you'd argue bowling, however his own form with the ball is questionable after his injury come back.

Only time will tell.
Good one Graham!

Oram will be quite an idiot to amputate his finger!!!

The reason for amputating his finger would be because he wants to play in the world cup and it won't heal in time....is that why he is amputating his finger?? Or is it because it NEEDS to be amputated.....when I say NEEDS I mean if the doctor perscribed that he amputated his finger because there is nothing else they could do to save him finger from being cut off????

I don't understand this thing too well. I was reading a bit about it on the newspaper though...

Mark gillespie has an injury that has all but ruled him out of the second warm up game.... so do new zealand risk playing him against eng (assuming he recovers) when he'll be underdone or play the warmed up Mason

Don't play either. Use Patal instead and Oram as the third seamer.
Good one Graham!

Even though England lost today I am still glad that Vaughan got in on the runs. This is a good thing going into the world cup for him!

Definitely, though England look shaky. These no consistency with that outfit what so ever. Neither with the NZ side, this WC is going to be close!

Newzealand were clinical in their second outing. Made a decent score and defended it well definately, and certainly this will give them a lot more confidence against english team, still not able to bat consistantly!
so far so good!

I believe odds are in favour of Kiwis, but certainly I see monty can be the big factor in the match, and if Kiwis dont loose many wickets to him they will win this one. English batting too inconsistant , KP had to find a footing pretty soon as he is too short of match practice so far!
so far so good!

I hear you mate , NZ have performed much better at the one day format over England for a long time. Still , the results in Australia between the two sides (2-2) suggest it'll be a close affair - and KP is back which must be a big lift to the English.

I'm backing NZ purely because they have been one of the most consistent ODI sides of previous years represented by their ranking of third in the world.

On the other hand England CAN beat NZ, therefore my predication isn't said with haste but with hope.
Good one Graham!

Can that be a legitimate excuse at this WC? The tournament is thorough to the point or boredom (though i won't get bored), therefore how can someone argue a fluke? They can't. In my opinion the best time will win the WC.

by the way I know where your coming from sledge, just extending the conversation.
Good one Graham!

Kenya have slumped since 2003, therefore Canada can maybe cause a upset. John Davidson is their trump card, another 100 from 50 balls could make things interesting. I don't think this game realy matters, as both England and New Zealand will destroy these two minnows.
I saw into the future - Ashes 2009 England 3 Australia 1!

I hear you Bondy , the best side will win the cup.  Still , the tournament is far too long - 51 bloody games!!
The team that triumphs will have played TEN matches - they'll be some tired bodies by the end.
Injuries are going to spoil some sides plans and ladyluck will still show herself too - just hope she's got an England shirt on this time around!

Like any tournament of this nature luck play's its part. However I like the intentions of the ICC, trying to filter out the inconsistent teams before the semi finals.

In saying that it seems they have gone too far to one end of the spectrum and have forgotten about pure sanity.

On that English note...hold on. Let's make a deal here Sledge. If England win the tournament I vow never to post on this forum again. I am so confident that they will NOT triumph.
Good one Graham!

England-NZ is too close to call for me (or maybe I just don't want to commit myself...), if both teams play at the top of their game the Kiwis will win, but from what weve seen recently from these two and how all the top sides have performed in the warm-up games that's no guarantee. If pushed I'd have to go for NZ, although it's tough to admit to myself.

On another issue, who would you all pick as bowlers for England? I think I'd go for both Monty and Dalrymple on these tracks, along with Anderson and Plunkett as the seamers. Lewis is a steady bowler, good on ENglish pitches but maybe not so much over here, and Mahmoud is not a one-day bowler, certainly at the moment.

Yes, it's nice to see the systematic farming of the South Sea Islands for sporting talent to represent "New Zealand" isn't restricted to rugby Wink

I hope you are wrong Sledge, since I just put a few bucks on Canada to beat Kenya today...LOL . The 4.80 odds were just a bit too generous to pass up I thought.

In a way I hope I'm wrong (since I like Kenya) but I dont think that the Maple Leafs will be a push-over here. They got a couple of players in the squad who didn't play in the recent series in Kenya because they were playing 1st class cricket in New Zealand.

Just couple of weeks ago Canada pushed Bangladesh to the wire in a high scoring match, before losing by just 13 runs. If they can repeat that performance, Kenya might have a fight on their hands.

I think Canada might just cause an upset.  I agree that Kenya have dropped their game since 2003 but they still have more experience than Canada at this level in recent years.
