I was reading today umpire Hair is suing the ICC for racisim, it's gets under way very shortly, hopefully he will finally get some justice for the disgraceful way the asian countries have treated him for simply applying the rules.

Yeah, interesting he never copped any flake despite supporting Hairs on field decisions, this could all have been avoided if Hair just invested in some fake tan.

It'll get dirty and cricket will be the loser. Expect the ICC's lawyers to dredge up old confrontations between Hair and subcontinental players.

Of course, but so what? if he has acted within the rules there can be no argument, he has been just as short with players from all countries, including aust. It's just this way some countries think, that if you dare question them on the field, it is some sought of blight on their pride, country, family, religion, blah blah blah, there are far worse umpires still getting around than Hair. It's time some of these greedy, self obsessed countries start putting cricket ahead of $$$$.

I hope Hair takes them to the cleaners and that buffoon Malcolm Speed cops the flak he deserves for selling Hair down the river by releasing that letter (the one the ICC had encouraged him to submit in the first instance).

I'm with you there Clobs , Speed's actions were decidely underhand.  Apparently Speed will be called along with Dave Richardson - I hope it's open court and the transcripts are in every paper.
John Jameson is also on Hair's side and he's the man who the MCC used to put together the revised laws of cricket last year. If Hair followed the correct protocol , I can't see how he can lose.

OK, lets be clear on something here.  BBC has been reporting complains against Hair' controversial decisions since 1990.  His eye sight and calls for lbw was first mentioned during Sussex countys' final game, way back.  His elite status on judging the UK counties was questioned a few times subsequently by Durham owner.  A couple of other county owners do not want him umpiring in county games, period.  So, I think Speed ought to put him out for good even it means thru a mean shark of a lawyer.  Not for whether he was right/wrong at Oval.  But simply for attracting so much attention and jostling umpiring decisions all over.

Tell me an umpire who hasn't had their judgement questioned - it's part of life , especially when a side has lost a big match.
What you fail to mention is that Hair was appointed to officiate more tests in the subcontinent than any other on the roster (go check it out).  That he then attracted more criticism should surprise nobody as he stood in more matches.

And who sent him to that region , none other than that revered body , the ICC.

The blundering body is going to pay for their scullduggery - just a pity the money will come from the bloated coffers of the ICC and not their own pockets.

Behind the racism smoke-screen is actually a case of personal judge held by the sub-continent countries after his unfavorable actions in the past.

Good one Graham!

It's no smoke screen bondy.

I'm intrigued with what i've read today.  It's the first I've heard of part of a recording of a taped meeting going missing.  Naturally , the missing information just happens to be the meatiest part of the conversation.

I'll bet some people aren't sleeping too well at this time.

I can name two umps who fell to the same destiny: di£kie Bird and Sheppard.  Both rectified with the advent of TV 3rd Umpire concept.  If you are 55-60 years of age and refuse to wear your prescription glasses,  Guess what???  you would be lucky if you see a garbage truck coming your way.  Umps too have to be judged by physical standards not just the players.

I can also name at least 5 other elite upms who were never called to the carpet by any inquisition.  R. Maddugale, M. Niaz, D. Harper, Simon Taufel, A. Darr and S. Randall.   Out of these, D. Harper and Simon Taufel are the most most requested umps by the Asian cricket boards for their sub continent games according to Malcolm Speed.  Uh.. go figure?????

Nonsense. The ICC reviews every decision their umpires make via video and compiles statistics for feedback. Darrell Hair's latest report was leaked to the press after the forfeited match. He was ranked overall second on the elite panel. Purely on % decisions correct, he was outright first.

http://content-uk.cricinfo.com/ci/content/story/267653.html

Let's be clear on this indeed. The ICC effectively sacked the umpire with the best skills in judging dismissals, and an umpire who they have repeatedly commended for his firm control of the matches he adjudicates.

If the ICC doesn't want an umpire who upholds the laws of cricket as they are actually written, then they ought to pay out his contract in full.

Quite right Roscoe !   Reading the article in today's cricinfo Hair's testimony confirms that the ICC were happy in his officiating.
That the ICC's defense lawyer brought up Hair's comments on Muralitharan's action strikes me as the actions of a worried body who have no bullets with which to attack.
I enjoyed his comment on Malcolm Speed too where Speed said ,"We have something in common.....the ICC wants to sack us both."   Speed was sat there in the hearing and must've cringed inwardly.

Most damning is the ICC's claim that those sub-committee meetings (that Hair was not asked to attend) have no minutes available - that's unacceptable for what amounted to a grave crisis within the game of cricket.

I wouldn't trust those people as far as I can spit and I sincerely hope that the verdict goes for a man who's been treated so shabbily.

I wonder how Rudi Koertzen is feeling about the revelation that in the presence of Doug Cowie (the ICC's umpire's manager) he apparently said during a phone call to Hair after Pakistan were knocked out of the World Cup "that's great news, those cheats can now go home".

(There is a slight inference in the particular report I read that Koertzen may possibly have been trying to lead Hair on with that comment, but even so it will make life interesting for him next time he has to make a contentious decision against Pakistan).

I was reading today that a big point on his sacking was money, because he called the game off he risked the icc millions, it shows what they think is the most important thing about cricket.

Hair is poor is man-management, especially with Asian teams. ICC should have sacked him in a more professional leak-proof method. as a result ICC is facing a lawsuit. It's immaterial whether Hair wins or loses the case, but he'll earn a lot of money if he decides to write up a book describing all these hapennings. Lucky fellow!
