Apparently no pay-off, but a "rehabilitation programme" after which the ICC will consider his future as an umpire.

I wonder if there was a backroom deal in which the ICC offered Hair his job back, but with this rehabilitation business as an attempt to save face.
It's a long way to the shop, if you want a sausage roll.

Hmmm, it all seems very vague as to why he's dropped the case, is it because he has got the result he wants, as Mail stated that his demotion was a "corrective measure" and that "I don't see any reason why Mr Hair should not return to the Elite panel and umpire Test matches."?

I can't see any way he can umpire at Test level again - all hell will break loose the second he gives a contentious decision against any Asian side.

Maybe he's got some cash out of it, or maybe now that he's had the satisfaction of seeing successive ICC figures shown up as bumbling fools he accepts that winning a case for racial discrimination is highly unlikely.

That's a split between my loyalties Sledge!

No doubt would have he been paid hush money! Compensation to drop the case, etc, making it look as if he was stupid to file it in the first place, thus saving face for the ICC! At the end of the day it's a story of a small fry taking on a corporation with money. Money wins.

The ICC haven't saved face bondy , they looked complete idiots when under cross-examination by Hair's QC.

Cricket was the loser in this mess , but Hair being the stubborn character that he is , he's been offered some sort of sweetener to drop this case.  The obvious one being reinstated as a 1st class umpire , probably for tests not involving Asian sides.

I also read some legal expert who said that by airing a lot of things in court Hair will now be at liberty to include them in his inevitable book when he wouldn't have been able to do so otherwise

ah, the joys of a western democracy and freedom of speech! The truth most be told! How is it that a game we love so dearly is run by tom-foolery!?

Hair has already written a book years ago; no doubt he's got enough new material to pump out another.

I only problem I have with Hair is why he attempted to Sue the ICC. I agree 100% on the way he handle Pak with the ball tampering Issue and awarded a forfeit victory to England, Pak only have themselves to blamed towards the forfeited discussion and I will Say its good umpiring although i know I will get some sticks from posters.
