I can't believe there isn't one already, and since I'm managing them in warnesters county sim, I may as well make one! Great start to the season, comprehensively beating Ireland by 8 wickets in the C & G trophy and a great game against Sussex lined up!

The game against Sussex should be very entertaining indeed.  I certainly hope so!  It'll be interesting to see how you get on without Warne and Pietersen, and a few Sussex boys need to stretch a bit, too.

I hope you enjoy the game.

 Thanks Merv, you too!

They have seemed to cope fine without Warne and Pietersen against Lancashire, and especially against Irealand in the C&G so its looking pretty good for them!

After a shaky start to the innings with a wicket leaving them 1-1, Hampshire are rebuilding (however slowly!) and currently at 34-1 off 16.1 overs!

Serious improvement needed but decent bowling to restrict Sussex to 212 all out after 84.3 overs.

 Scorecard

 End of play:

Hampshire 34-1 in reply to Sussex 212 all out.

Crawley and Adams going along nicely at the moment.

Remember to post anything you want about Hampshire here!

I think Hampshire's success this year is going to depend on Warney and how well he does

Warney is only one player, and they have done superbly well so far without him or Pietersen so I'm not sure.

Just bowled Sussex out in their second innings for 262, so we need 306 for victory. Can't see us doing that well, but we'll give 'em a good game!

Currently 181-8 and really struggling. Not our best game here but without Warne and Pietersen I think we did as well as we could have.

Actually, I thought Hampshire were doing fairly well.  Then I had a few pints after work and Mushy had 7 wickets!

I must keep drinking!

I dunno I made this thread so I now refer to Hants as we. Also I am really Kevin Pietersen in disguise.

After a modest total with the bat, Hampshire eventually claimed a tense 8 run victory over Essex after a great spell at the end form both captain Warne and all rounder Thornely.

Kevin Pietersen kicked off his season with a blistering 98 off just 74 balls before being trapped lbw by Middlebrook. The openers failed mostly, and despite some mediocre scores from Carberry, Mascarenhas, Warne, Udal and Bruce, the target still seemed a couple of runs short.

Essex began a little bit better, with the crucial second and fourth wicket stands of 64 and 95 seeming to put the tourists on course for victory.

However, Essex found Udal (2), Warne (2) and Thornely (3) in great frm and were denied victory when Foster was caught by Udal off the bowling of Thornely trying to slog his second six of his 15 runs.

The victory means Hampshire have won their two opening C&G Trophy matches, in their attempt to retain the title for the second year running.

 I don't know!

I like KP, and I manage them in your county sim, plus I hadn't really chosen a team to support anyway...so...techically...does that make me a Hants fan? I guess it does!

I think I support Lancs really, but for the sake of the topic I'll be a Hants fan to all Cricket World members!
