Obviously you all share an interest in cricket, but well else do you enjoy doing as in your spare time?
I thought if we could get what people enjoy it would be easier to make topics that may interest you, also shared hobbies are something that can be discussed, or even something you're intrigued by - so post away ![]() I guess i'll start us off, and feel free to make comments or ask questions!
Obviously i love films and TV series as well - not sure i'd include it here, but feel free too! As an idea, after your hobbies/interest just include your top three movies and TV shows, just something else to discuss! Movie
TV
And now you, off-topic!

I spend a fair amount of time on the pool table - it used to be the snooker table , but my eyes aren't up to that any longer! Bridge was a major passion for many , many years and I travelled a great deal to play in tournaments. In fact I've always been a card player and love a game of Texas Hold 'em when I can get the lads together. Betting is a family trait and my good lady says I'd bet on which of two flies was first to land on one of my dog's jobbies ! Dogs have been a big part of my life and we've had labradors and/or golden retrievers throughout our married life - never less than 2 and up to 4 . Add to that a cockatiel (cheeky lil monkey too) and 1 or 2 cats and you'll understand that our house is more menagerie than home - the vet dines out on us regularly !
You'll know of my passion for wildlife in all it's shapes and forms. As a kid I used to bring home allsorts of critters - most that horrified my Mum ! Today , I'm no collector , just an avid watcher/twitcher. Lastly , the great love of my life , the best thing that's ever happened to me and something I'll cherish until my dying day - yes, of course it's beer in all it's most wondrous forms - gimme a pint and I'm in heaven ! Oh , and the missus and daughter are diamond's as well ! ![]() |

Other than playing cricket, I have played hockey and still play squash on a regular basis. I love travelling and have traveled to most continents but Australia. Love climbing the mountains and am a frequent visitors to the Great Himalayas. Have a pair of Himalayan cats and a German Shepherd dog - love being with them.
I do a bit of poetry in the leisure hours. And also take my little son to swimming classes twice a week. Not a huge movies fan. That's that.

I use to play pool every weekend - haven't in quite a while. Never tried snooker as i haven't a place to, but i can appreciate how tough it can be, especially without the correct eyesight ![]()
Oh, very active. Is that field hockey or ice - if i could skate i would love to try ice hockey ![]() Do you play cricket for a team?

I love German Shepherds Zuhair, a pity I don't have one. As they say, a dog is a man's best friend, i've had quite a bit over the years (sadly don't know which kind they were) and liked them all. The best we had was one that was savage to anyone except who lived at home. It was very friendly to us alone, everyone else it wanted to take to pieces. That's what I call a dog! We currently have one and it looks like a tiger so we named it "Tiger". It's not a savage dog but it plays savage lol.
Well, my main passion is Cricket, love it a lot, I guess we all know that. I love watching half hour comedy shows like Everybody Love Raymond and Home Improvement. I did like Cartoons a lot when I was younger, recently I re watched all Batman Beyond episodes. I do watch movies now and again, download some and then watch them but i'm not too much of a tv watcher, except when Cricket is showing. I love eating, lol, strange eh but one of the best pleasures in life is when you can have as much access to both land and sea meat as I do. Sea food is magnificent and we have some of the most delightful cooks as well. I guess i've been spoilt by my mother.
I love driving as well, growing up in these parts make you into a good driver because sometimes the roads are very narrow and there are plenty corners, etc so i'm pretty good in driving through the smallest of gaps (which my cricket timing was as good as that). My dad has 2 Nissan Navara pickup truck (he and my oldest brother drives them) and those things are electrifyingly quick. Turbo charged and very powerful (Nissan isn't famous for power). I drove it once and the speed was breath-taking. Normal vehicles make about 110 MPH, this goes up to 140 MPH and it builds up a lot quicker than your normal vehicle.

That's cool, i tend to do that with shows! Did you watch other shows around that time (Spiderman, X-Men etc)?
I quite enjoy trying different food - but i do have limitations, saying that. Do you have a favourite dish?

Yes, I watched Superman, Batman, X-men, Zeta project, Static Shock and others around my youth time. Batman and Superman were my favourites along with X-men. Cartoon these days are no good compare to those. Even Winnie the Pooh was a batter watch than Cartoons these days. loved Pokemon and Yu-gi-oh!
Also, for a favourite dish, Rice with lentil peas along with patoto salad and any form of meat will do me fine. I love Pork a lot, love Mutton, Beef, Conch, Lobster and many others. Eating food without protein for me is a waste!

I find I don't have a huge amount of time to indulge too many hobbies beyond playing cricket on Sundays.
I play squash, though not as much as I used to down to time constraints. I also play golf and enjoy that a lot when I get the chance - normally it's more a case of going to the driving range every week and getting on the course as and when I can. I like playing computer games too - I have been a long term fan of the Championship Manager/Football Manager series, and am also coming up to the end of an enjoybale campaign in Empire: Total War too. The best game I have played in recent years was Dead Space, that was superb. |

Oh blimey, I forgot the important one - just like Sledger - Beer!
I love a drop of real ale, and trying different ones whenever I get the chance. If I go into a pub and there is something on I haven't seen before I will have to taste it. |

I reckon you guys have the beer belly too? haha
I use to play computer games quite a bit too, have stopped that. I loved the EA Sports Fifa games. Has any played Nightfire, a James Bond game - that's a superb action game. Have very good graphics and the weaponry is very good!

All fun games, i especially like the Total War strategy type game - Starcraft is brilliant for that, one that i play - and also Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth! I tried Dead Space as well, loved it! Reminded me of the older Resident Evil games, which are some of my favourites.

Seems a lot of us share similar interests.
As for me, as well as cricket I follow most sports, being particularly keen on rugby, motor racing and football. Don't really follow a team in rugby, despite growing up in the South West when Bath were dominant. I had a small affinity with Gloucester as they were reasonably local and not winning. Glad to see how well Exeter have done this year and they are closer than any team to where I was born. I also enjoy playing computer games, Championship Manager being a long-standing favourite. I still play 01/02 with all the updates that have brought it into the next century but also from time to time dabble in F1 simulations, some golf games and some others. I like to read and generally have several books on the go. Currently I have a book about the Duckworth/Lewis method, one about TalkSport, one about non-FIFA countries playing international football and one about the Princes In The Tower on the go. |

I enjoy reading cricket books, even though I have long since given up writing the reviews of them in my old cricket books thread!
I enjoy novels too but find I pick up a book so rarely these days that following anything with a plot is a bit hard to do. I like Joe R Lansdale, I will always read Tom Wolfe's novels when he deigns to write one every decade or so, and I love Iain Banks' older stuff, but he hasn't written anything especially memorable for a while |

To be honest, anything i've read recently has been an auto biography or something similar.
Last book i read was Just a Geek - Wil Wheaton. It's a collection of stories about his life so far. I think he's a brilliant writer, really get something from his stories. I also listen to his podcasts, can't get enough!

Blimey , I didn't mention reading ! A day doesn't pass without me reading for at least an hour , sometimes 4 or 5 hours if the books a belter. It's usually at midnight as I'm a poor sleeper nowadays - an old man's complaint!
I'm a lover of all sporting books , especially biographies , but I love my serial killers as well ! History gets plenty of attention too , especially that of the Empire and Africa - I've around 15 books just on the Anglo-Boer War. My good lady visits the local library every two weeks and brings back 8 or so new books - the gorier the better ! Val McDermid, Michael Connelly , Dean Koontz (especially the early stuff) and plenty of others. (I never remember the titles of books and often , not their authors either. Many's the time I've started reading a book only to discover I read it last month and the old lady had retaken it out of the library so that she could read it!) That's an indication of you becoming an old man JP
My hobbies include reading and working on video documentaries related to great musicians from my state(Karnataka). I write script, edit and direct the documentaries. I can send a link to one of the documentaries which we did recently, but it is in my language - so may not make sense to many here.

As you can probably tell from my avatar I play the Bass guitar and have done so in bands on and off for just under 10 years.
For the other things that take up my spare time head over to the 'last film you watched' topic.

well I love to exercise, in fact I cannot live without going to the gym for say more than a week, don't know why but I'm addicted to exercising since last 9 years, that doesn't mean I'm a body builder or anything but well I keep myself fit and in shape and enjoy being with my Gym friends! I'm also addicted to PC / Play Station games and love playing "fantasy" cricket games.
I have played cricket at college level and obviously I love playing cricket, watching Tennis and F1 in fact Tennis is my favorite sport after cricket. I'm very good at playing carroms and can beat anybody in this world, at least that is what I believe, also very good at Chess. I play a lot of Table Tennis, even now, but am not very good because I lose more often than I win.
