LOL. Not bad.

I had training today and I had a great laugh but didn't actually play very well. Got absolutely whacked on the knee when I was bowling so I'm hobbling about the place just now! Batted crap, bowled fine. LOL

Hmm this is wierd because most of you are talking about cricket in England, well i am a schoolboy in australia and play in one of the most competitive competitions in the country. I'm in the 15a's and the only reason not in firsts is because of a back injury prevents me from bowling atm, uummmm we had a pre competition on the holidays... I got 2, 20, 30, 68 which was alright and opened the bowling for first two matches but only could bowl 3 overs as returning from injury and got 0/6 off three first match, and 2/9 off second so  was pleased with that.

My nets are going fairly well at the moment, I'm getting some wickets and not getting out very often when I'm batting

hmm i only took 1-30 off 7 today, terrible effort by me, though i am injured at the moment. I had pretty good figures until one guy hit 2 consecutive 'Mal Loye sweep off the fast bowler' shots for 6. Thats the end of our 2 day games though.....bring on the one dayers

After 2 practice sessions, pretty pleased with my self.
Managed to get back my outswing and offcutters at a reasonable pace as well as rediscovering my action for the Legbreaks. Also experimented with OBs but hasn't worked out that well :)
As far as batting's concerned, gradually getting back to form. Another 3 or 4 sessions should do the trick :)

Started indoor net practice yesterday. My bowling was diabolical, leg side wides, full tosses, had no control over my swing. My bowling always takes a couple of nets to get in tune.

Batting was satisfactory, but the spinners gave me some problems. The ball was keeping ridiculously low to the point that back foot play became non-existant. I always find that a problem because i naturally go back or forward on my judgement of length but when a ball pitches half way down and doesn't bounce i end up getting trapped on my back foot. Still seeing as its the first time i've batted in about 6 months, i see it as a positive start as i got behind the ball and was hitting the majority of balls in the middle of the bat.

Well, I should be back in action by today or this monday barring rain etc which I hope stays away. It will be my first on a full length pitch since the end of august. A pretty long time indeed!

It's a brand new pitch too. I helped roll it this morning and it was pretty damp because of over night rain but it's typical caribbean weather at the moment. It's not a flat pitch - it has a bit of ups and downs and slopes on it so there should be some lateral movement although there are no grass on it. It should be fine for batting too and I am hoping to get back into form with the bat too. I am always reminiscing about my ton last year. Wink

It doesn't look all that favourable to spin at the moment as it should be hard when it gets the heavy roller on it. Oh yeah, now the toppy comes into action.

this is a really good thread some good posting in it.

My school net session was cancelled on Thursday Angry x 100. Its definitely on next Thursday though, and then I will hopefully stake my claim for the first XI unless I bowl like I did a month ago. My batting is as solid as ever and I've noticed that with my new bat, my drives have slowly started to feel nicer and nicer. Tomorrow, I'm going to get pads, helmet, elbow pad and bag and then bring on the cricket season (in 3 months time Cry)

Surprise, surprise! I went to practice yesterday! I trained on the grass and not the pitch as it isn't finished yet. I bowled for an hour odd and I have to say, I was impressed by how well I bowled for a comeback from 5 months of not bowling on a full length area. I thought I was gonna bowl pure crap but not so. I didn't get my line and turn at first but as the time went on, I found back my turn and the line and length a bit. I Bowled a lot of long hops though.

None of variations came good. Only one googly came on target - all the rest were long hops. Probably 2 top spinners came on target - all the rest was down the leg side.  No sliders went on target. All went down the leg side but they went straight on though. I tried 2 flippers - the first is probably the biggest long hop I have bowled in my life and the other was a yorker. The good news for it is that it was right in line to the stumps.

My leggies were good though. I got them to turn and got the over spinners to dip. I kept on changing my flight and pace a bit. I had a bit of trouble with the side spinners early on. The release was a bit messed up but I fixed it and started to land the balls in line with the stumps and out side leg and got them to turn. I could see the seam clearly and it wasn't scrambled at all.

Session one for the new year was a lot better than I expected. I hope the year is better than I expected too. Wink

ive adopted a more attacking /risk taking approach this year and well after a bit of coaching and an admittedly lacklustre comp ive had a really good year with the bat, the highlight being my first ever ton!

My second session wasnt as bad as the first, I got through it without doing any damage to myself and after a few bad balls I was getting it on target almost all the time. I wasn't bowling particularly quickly but I was getting the ball in the right place and was cutting it about a bit, bowled a left hander twice and got an edge off a right hander so thats a good sign for a second ever net session.

As for my batting.. well I had a shocking session, first ball bowled me, most my shots went up in the air, some bloke I bowled twice was bowling some rather nasty bouncers which wasnt so much fun without a helmet on but I hit a wonderful shot from a ball that would have left a hole in my chest, unfortunatly I knew nothing about it till I had hit and and I havent worked out what it was yet, a sort of cut shot but there was no brain involved, if there had I wouldnt have tried that shot =p

All in all a pretty good session and as its not the greatest team in the world and apparantly they often only have 9-10 players turn up I should be a regular in the team and get some matches come april.

I had a 15 over practice match yesterday and I sucked! I dropped a catch in the first over and dropped another later on! My bowling was very bad. I bowl about 3 overs for 30 odd runs. I got one wicket - stumped. Well, it was just my 3rd session after 5 months out so........
