Yesterday i played a match for the first time in months but i don't bat because i was playing for my former school team and I think it was wise to send the guys would will be playing on the school team this year with the order ahead of me.
I did some fantastic fielding all match at silly mid off/on, i was sharping than dwayne smith for sure. Towards the end we played with bad light and rain. THe rain was too heavy so play had too be call off with one over remaining and the other team needing 9 runs to win.
I am disappointed to end up without a bat but my fielding is still at high class rating.
August 16th 2009, my team Youth Combine was crowned CHAMPION once more

Had a go at training yesterday and I was more pleased than the day before. I only bowled a few full tosses and not many short ones. I got the guys to try and take me over the top and they failed miserably. My variations still haven't come to grip as yet - Only the top spinner came well! - neither the full amount of turn I use to get. Anyway, it's just the beginning of the season for me so.......

bowled Ok today, I got tired towards the end and couldn't grip the ball because the balls had been kept in a fridge. LOL

I got a guy out with an absolute cracker. I bowled really close to the stumps and it started out on leg and drifted a foot outside leg. The guy (who is in the 1st XI) advanced down the pitch and was beaten by the spin and it hit off stump. I would have got about 20 catches and 4 or 5 stumpings.

My batting was really solid and some of my cover drives were godly. I held my sposition for 30 seconds for one shot just to rub it in the bowlers face LOL (what??? I dont get to do that very often! LOL)

Had a great training yesterday, even though it was pretty hot. Bowled for an hour and a half and even practised my death bowling which went quite well. When it came to batting i made a change in my stance which helped a lot and played some great cover drives, though i did get hit in the helmet by a medium pacer.

Had our first one day game of the summer today. We batted first on a rubbish pitch and made 197 all out in like 46 overs. The opposition put on 90/0 in 10 overs (2 dropped catches off my bowling). But then we pegged them back and i grabbed a couple of wickets, and in the end we got them all out for 156 in 41 overs.

So a great start to our saturday comp, but we have the first round of the national comp on tuesday, we should win but even if we do we wont make it past the second round.

Now that is rubbish .From 90/0 in 10 how can one explain hhow the side collapse to 156 ao in 41 overs .That means 21 pvers cost only 66 .

Nope, it's not rubbish! The West Indians will tell you that if you ask them.

It was simple really, get rid of the openers, grab a couple more quick wickets and bring on the line and length medium pacers so the batsmen cant hit out. The batsmen get fustrated and get themselves out. Then opening bowlers come back on, bowl a couple of yorkers at the base of leg stump and the game is all over Big%20smile

I had a good net yesterday. Well, batting wise anyway - full update in my blog sometime later on today.

First net of the season today.

I batted early and it was hard work. The standard of the mats was very poor which meant the ball didn't bounce at all so playing back was a bit of a no-no. I ended up batting a yard or so outside of my crease to give myself a chance. It took a while for the feet to start moving properly and whilst it was a fairly poor session there was plenty to build on.

Bowling wise I was fairly happy. I managed to 'dismiss' most of the people I bowled to, including one decent player 3 balls in succession. With only a few bowlers in attendance it meant a heck of a lot of work though and I have no doubt I'll be suffering tomorrow.

Indoor Training - Week 2

Bowling much improved from week 1. The full tosses and leg side wides were few and far between. Got the ball to swing a lot aswell and my fitness allowed me to up my pace a notch. Will look to up the pace again next week.

Batting was pretty solid. I got out once when i danced down the wicket to launch a spinner straight but it pea rolled under my bat. Those type of dismissals you just try and forget and move on imo. My weight was slightly back on 1 or 2 front foot drives, so thats something i will look to correct next week.

Oh and the body is caning Ouch

Had just a light training today (as we have a match tomorrow....whoot day off class), did some basic fielding drills and then a little net for the top 4. Just bowled off 6 paces but still generated near my full pace which was intersting as the keeper went in my net and stood up to the stumps and i hit him in the helmet with a bouncer the batsmen swayed away from.

My word, we somehow lost in round one of the national competition, against a team that would bearly make the grade in the wednesday 20/20 comp. Our team dropped 11 catches, 6 off my bowling. So naturally were having an extra practise on thursday to work on basic basic stuff like 'giving with the ball'
